What is a CPA?

Left ear - Nucleus 24 Contour Advance with Freedom BTE

Implanted: 12/22/04 Activated: 1/18/05

Right ear - Nucleus Freedom

I was also given that suggestion following surgery. In addition, I was

advised to keep my mouth open when coughing or sneezing.

, From my personal experience, you are playing it smart by not trying

your HA on your implanted ear.

After my right ear was implanted and before activation, I had a horrific

experience. When alone, I never wore my HA's. While driving I would turn up

the volume to hear the radio. Well I turned it up extra loud to enjoy my

jazz CD's. I felt pain in my implanted ear that was unbearable, and it

lasted for a long time after I turned off the radio. I was very worried that

I had caused permanent damage. I did notice before the pain hit, then I felt

vibrations in the ear.
