Guest guest
Well its 2 weeks now since I got the Freedom upgrade mapped. I go back in 2 weeks. First, I was averaging 4 days on the disposables with the 3G. Try 8 days on the Freedom unless my brain fried. I am now using the rechargeables but will go back to the disposables to verify the 8 days. I like the rechargeables, way easy to change and to recharge at night. It looks like Cochlear did a great job with this so that right out of the box, if not using power gobbling maps, they last more than a day easy. Ok, 2 open programs, one with t coil mix, other one 100% t coil. One ADRO, one Beam. Tried Beam once so far, definitely too soft at sens 6 but have not had a chance to experiment further with it. ADRO is not living up to its potential...yet. Speech is not clear even with sens lowered from 12 to say, 6. It does work in noise somewhat, better than the open program. Needs more tweaking. Funny thing, using ADRO to listen to music on the computer is fine. I ripped all my music cd's to computer this month and have been listening to lots of it. I also ordered the audio cable (TV cable is still back ordered) and used it with my cd player, this time using an open program with sens set to zero. Not too bad at all. Today, with open program on, and sens set to 14 rather than 12 (I do NOT like using ADRO when out, I need to hear ALL of it), I heard a chopper flying overhead. Realized the bass is muddy and so am going to write down all my perceptions for my audi to read. Overall, I am not disappointed, and am pleased I now am using all 22 electrodes. In the early days, I did notice a humming sort of noise, and today thought it was rather lessened so suspect its new noise that my brain is now assimilating. I am more aware of sounds I did not hear as readily with the 3G, kitchen clock ticking for example. And to my amusement, can hear the birds singing or chattering, as much now as they usually do in springtime. Its cold and wet and nasty out there, why are they so happy? LOL My assessment... The controls are somewhat easy to use. Not as convenient to change programs when one has to cycle thru them all, but that is a small price to pay to have that added function in such a small package. Be nice to have t coil set to stay on full time if one wishes in one program. Also nice is ability to reset a program to default settings, especially useful when one is experimenting and want to go back to defaults. Hmmm, turn on time takes too long. turn off time is not as bad. I find I do not have to take the processor off to twiddle with it. Even when I reset a program, I can do it with it on my ear. Dont know what size the earhook is but this marvel is so comfortable. I am surprised that I actually like the rechargeables. Before the Freedom, I never thought I would say it. But I believe Cochlear did a fantastic job with the design and the ease of use of either the rechargeables or the disposables is equal. 2 weeks and it can only get better! *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* I took an IQ test, and the results were negative. & Dreamer Doll (Guide Dawggie) Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
