Many hearing aid users who find their hearing aids are not providing enough help to understand speech and other more complex sounds like music are often faced with the question: Should I invest in new hearing aids or is it time to look into a cochlear implant? With children these questions can be more difficult. How do parents and teachers know when it may be time to upgrade hearing aids or consider a cochlear implant? Because of progress over the past two decades, people with a severe loss are often candidates and don’t realize it. Cochlear implant candidancy has widened over time and technology has improved considerably, meaning that cochlear implant recipients have better and better outcomes. Join us to some considerations specific to children in determining if it’s time to consider a cochlear implant.
