Guest guest
Hello everyone. This is Glotzbach. I went for my CI evualuation yesterday and was approved. I have a question about the results of one my test. On the test in which you had to repeat back the words. Out of 50 words, I answered 6 correctly which was a score of 12%. But then they also factored in hearing some of the sounds of the word correctly. For example I was suppose to say wheel and I said peel. They gave me 2 points for that (3 points for the correct answer) and on some I got 1 point. When the audi factored those in I had a score of 42%. This test was using a hearing aid. Then she said the " average CI patient scores range from 50 to 60%. I know I should have asked and I will, but is that based on what a CI patient answered correctly or is that factoring in getting some sounds right. I just want to understand the results better. If you consider my 12% and that would jump to 50 to 60%. That is amazing. But if we are talking about my score of 42% improving to 50 to 60%, that doesn't seem that great. If anyone would mind sharing how you did on the test using your hearing aid or whatever hearing you had left and also how you have done on them since having the CI. I definitely want to be able to understand what others are saying better and to hear my children better. There are a lot of things that I heard that some of you are doing now, that I can't do like going to the movies, listening to music, watching TV without captions, talking on a regular phone. I go on Jan. 20 to have a cat scan, MRI, and blood work done, then I go back to meet with the surgeon. Any information you can share would be helpful. Thanks, Glotzbach __________________________________________ DSL – Something to write home about. Just $16.99/mo. or less. dsl.
