Guest guest
Hello , Wonderful to hear of your son's success! As for the phone, I actually understood better with a cell phone and still do in comparison to a landline phone. What helped me to " get started " using the landline was to practice. I did this by calling my mom and also those 800 toll free numbers to listen to the recordings. It's the 3 PPP's, patience, persistance, and practice that works best! Patience to keep on trying them even if it means waiting a few months down the road to improve, persistance, not stopping at any one phone, try several, and practice, listening over and over to improve speech understanding. In the beginning, I used the tcoil, but nowadays I never need to. Hope this helps Freedom 9/21/05 HOOKED!! Guest guest
Hi , Glad to hear that your son is doing so well with his CI. I started using the phone with my CI just a few days after activation. I know there are several good telephones for your son to try. I wanted a cordless phone with caller ID, so I purchased the Clarity C4210. It does very well, and was recommended to me by the people at Communications. This phone is rather expensive, and I'm sure one of the less expensive models may do just as well. I also use my cell phone and actually find that I can hear even better on it. I have the LG VX8100 from Verizon. That particular model is not sold any more, but has been replaced by the LG VX8300 which has the M4/T4 rating. I think any of the phones with the M4/T4 rating should do very well. I always use my t-coil on the telephone and because I don't have a microphone mix with the t-coil, I can hear very well on the phone even in noisy restaurants, parties or while driving/riding. Best wishes to you and your son for a very Happy New Year! Guest guest
Dear and all: I recently replaced my 10 year old Clarity amplified phone with the latest model, even though the old one had worked flawlessly for so long. The new one, a Clarity W-1000, for only $34.95 from Walgreens. The same phone sells from about $90 to 100 at major retailers. Such a deal! You can check out the features at: http://clarityproducts.com/products/listing/item3189.asp Actually, I could have gotten it free from Florida's equipment distribution program! Guest guest
Not sure myself, Carol, being ish here! LOL! I saw a news blurb on the fantastic price at Walgreens and trotted across the road to my local Walgreens and just bought it. Rare case of impulse buying! Still can't figure out how they are selling a phone that lists for $109.95 so cheap!($34.95) My first Clarity phone did come from the FTRI distribution center in W. Palm Beach though. Florida (and many states) have great programs for free or deeply discounted equipment, while some slacker states have no programs at all! Pathetic! Cheers! Its called 'markup'. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it. --Jack Handley & Dreamer Doll (Guide Dawggie) Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
