Guest guest
Hi , I was the one who wrote you about electrode channels. They are the points where electrical stimulation goes to the cochlea and then on to the auditory nerve to give you hearing. Nucleus has 22 electrodes or channels in the cochlea, and the electrode array is self curling, which means it hugs the center of the cochlea and delivers the sound where it needs to be. The 22 channels hit the areas of high frequency sounds, and low frequency sounds, so you get a good match of all. Go to the websites we've mentioned and read up on it. YOU need to do your homework yourself, so you can make a choice based on information. The Original From: " paulmmorris " <pmm_boston@...> Subject: Channels? I hope this question is not going to floor people out there but I'd really like to know exactly what channels are and what do they do. Somebody informed that Freedom has 22 channels while AB has 16. I hope I got those number correct and I truly hope this is not deemed to " brand war " but could somebody fill me in. Actually, I would think, that most people here could and should chime in and give some really great technical info on this matter. Why? If you got this device imbedded in your skull, then you really should be at least that much a pro and expert on the matter. Or, am I mistaken? Waiting for some good info. No Hugs pleeeeez.
