Guest guest
, When I had my first vertigo episode back in 2003 I was diagnoised with Menieres..in short time I lost the hearing in my left ear..because I also have RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) I was tested to see if I had the anibody for AIED and it was positive. So they now say I have AIED with left ear Menieres. (something like that) anyway I lost the hearing in my right ear 1 year later (Sept. 2004) In a years span I had 3 really bad vertigo episode that caused spinning, nausea, and imbalance the after effects lasted for weeks. Since I lost my hearing I haven't had vertigo but my balance is terrible. > I just wonder how many of you have > experienced Meniere's symptoms. Many of the people I talk with there > have experienced fluctuating hearing loss, have sensitivity to noise, > suffer from semicurcular canal dihenscence (spelling???)to name a few. > Many of them fear losing their hearing completely. They are waiting to > hear my story once I'm implanted. Any comments in regards to hearing > loss from Meniere's disease?
Guest guest
Jimmy? Menieres is a medical syndrome that apparently overfills the cochlea with fluid so that it ruptures from time to time. That isn't painful but it causes severe dizziness which is the vertigo, tinnitis and loss of hearing. Usually it only hits one ear but sometimes it gets both. A shunt is a tube stuck in the body in various locations to drain fluid. My doc put one in my left cochlea. It doesn't hang out or anything gross.
