Guest guest
Hi , all growing up bilingually German/English in Germany) I have to chime in here. I LOVED Latin (yes, I can see you all frown now, thinking I must be a bit strange *g*). It is so logical. Okay, I could not have cared less about the texts we had to translate as I was really not interested whether Caesar's troops attacked from the left or right ;-) But Latin grammar fascinated me. And, as somebody living in Europe, I have found Latin to be very helpful when travelling to Italy, Spain etc. I cannot speak any of those languages but I can understand most of it, especially when it is written (like on a menu). Also, it sure helps me to understand medical reports etc. And, I even know one family (in the US *g*) that raise their daughter bilingually (English/Latin). They speak Latin to her, which I thought was so interesting because I could not imagine how you can talk about computers, internet, even cars etc. in Latin. Apparently, they put old words together to describe new technology etc. Thought that was quite interesting. Kind regards, Sabine in Cologne, Germany with (12/98), Christian (4/00, great hearing with 2 CIs since 4/01 after meningitis), Florian (6/02) and Tobias (8/04) - all growing up bilingually German/English
