Guest guest
I have to take 10 days of antibiotics to get rid of strep throat. Any suggestions as to what I could take with it to minimize the side effects of antibiotics? I tried to get rid of it by natural methods, but was unable to :-(. a
Guest guest
Thank you , I am on my way there. I pretty much skipped all the AB talk when it was going on bcs at that time it didn't pertain to me. Now, I could kick myself! I went and checked out the sites that a has, and my next step is to go to the archives. I will hit your recommended site now. Thanks, Rainy Sue > Hi Rainy Sue, I have been on the antibiotic Minocin for about 5 weeks, but > there are others that are very experienced. Guest guest
Hi a, I think that you should look at www.roadback.org-- there are many people that have nationwide lists of antibiotic docs, and quite a few are rheumatologists. Please take a look, and if you need further info, email Elf marge@..., as she is the head of the website. She would love to pass any and all information regarding antibiotics. Give it a looksee...Regards, Diane
Guest guest
Rainy Sue, I am definitely NOT an expert, at least not yet The most commonly prescribed AB is minocycline and tetracycline. http://roadback.org/protocol/protocol.html is the link for the treatment and how it works as well as available testing. AB's are an antinflammatory, so that is why you got relief. If you read the roadback list, there are a lot of people that have been put into remission with AB's. There are so many success stories that I don't know how or why the treatment is disputed. Since education is our best defense, I urge EVERYONE to at least read about it. The hardest part about the protocol is finding a doctor. They have a list of AB doctors in every state. For serious infection, IV antibiotics are given daily for a week. This is repeated every 6 months. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rysu19@...> < > Sent: Friday, January 26, 2001 5:11 PM Subject: [ ] Antibiotics > I need expert advice on the antibiotics. a. =) > > Anyhow, when a person decides to try the antibiotic therapy. Guest guest
I second or third that, a. Wherever we are now. =) I also URGE everyone to read about antibiotics. You don't know when you'll be on them again for some sort of infection. I am just glad all the talk about them went on before I got them for bronchitis so I could watch and see what might happen. I ask you to ALL read up about this because of what I have just experienced. I can't tell you how impressed I am at what these have done for me for my arthritis. At least, the swelling. Anyway, this sure explains why the swelling has gone down so dramatically! Thank you, too, , for also telling me this. My story. I slept 24 hours last night/day. Guess my body was tired and really needed it. Anyhow, because I slept so long, I didn't take my antibiotics until this morning, when I got up. The last time I had taken them before that was very early Saturday morning, before going to bed. So, I had 24 hours in between where I didn't take them. I woke late last night, around 11 PM in terrible pain. Part of the reason why I just kept on sleeping, since it was night anyway and a chance to straighten my hours back out. When I got up this morning, I did a more thorough exam of my hands. When I went to bed early Saturday morning, my hands and fingers were VERY slim and had no swelling. When I woke this morning, the word that came to me to describe my hands was " thick. " They were hot and swollen and just felt like I had fat hands. I took my antibiotic at 7 AM, a little over 3 hours ago, and the swelling is on its way down. I plan to discuss this with my doctor. I would much rather be on antibiotics than Prednisone! If I could lower and get off it! My only concern is becoming resistant to antibiotics when I really need them. I know I read somewhere that won't happen if taken properly? Boy, I wish I had paid attention to all the AB talk. Time to hit the archives! =) ~Rainy Sue > Rainy Sue, > I am definitely NOT an expert, at least not yet > The most commonly prescribed AB is minocycline and tetracycline. > http://roadback.org/protocol/protocol.html > is the link for the treatment and how it works as well as available > testing. > AB's are an antinflammatory, so that is why you got relief. Guest guest
Once again, may I suggest the website www.roadback.org? I have mentioned this several times, and I guess no one is listening. Diane
Guest guest
If I had a family member who was very ill, where time was a major factor, I'd use the pharmaceutical antibiotics to get her out of the grip of death and deal with tonification tactics later. I think it would be foolish not to use antibiotics in a life and death situation. I think we should use anything available at a time like that. I have been to a doctor 3 times in the past 15 years. Twice it was for Lyme's disease. I refuse to mess with that one when there are antibiotics which have been proven to get rid of it. It's one of those ailments that can crop up at a later date (and be devastating), and I wasn't taking the chance that I cured it with my herbs only to find out a year later that I didn't. That's usually about 7-10 days. > If it is, and it were me, I'd probably do it. ============================================================== The trouble is that until I talked her out of it, she was doing a 7-10 day round of treatment every 2 months. So that approach was not working. > To totally self-medicate would feel like Russian > Roulette if I didn't have a perfectly clear idea of what I was up > against and 100% > sure of what I was doing. =============================================================== Physicians don't have a perfectly clear idea of what they are up against and they are rarely 100% sure of what they are doing. Mistakes and poor judgement by medical professionals are one of today's leading causes of death. I've been reading up a bit on Cipro and it looks like the FDA itself has already called for its ban, and other drug companies complied, except for Bayer which is fighting the ban tooth and nail. No doubt Bayer Inc., knows with 100% certainty what will boost their profit margin.

However, why give a processed something to help with the bowels when one can eat lots of fresh fruits for the digestible fiber. Lots of green leafy veggies for the minerals and fiber. Much better then the processed brand " X " . ;-) > One can get all of these ingredients in their basic raw living form > along with living enzymes to boot. ================================================================ The FiberMax supposedly has live bacteria in it, so it's not too dead, and should have some " live " enzymes too The FiberMax helped daughter's chronic stomach problems a lot. During the 2 weeks she took it, she had a total of 2 mild stomach pains after eating compared to bad stomach pains at least a couple times/day before the Fibermax. I hit him over the head with all my " new-fangled " ideas, he pouts about it for about a year, and then he considers giving it a try. Unfortunately the state board is controlled by the FDA and hence not much wiggle room is allowed med. drs. > > Herbalists sometimes forget that the average person is trained by culture not to pay attention. =================================================================== How is that? It seems daughter's kidney problem was due to a party one night with drinking followed by severe dehydration since the house she spent the night at had only tap water and no other bottled drinks, so she just decided to go thirsty. Not a good idea for her. At least her dad told the drs to forget the antibiotics and multiple invasive tests, and she was cured within a day. Guest guest
No antibiotics for me either. Actually I had to sign a waiver years back from dentist I am refusing to take a prescription. I was his first patient ever to refuse this "blessing" as he thought. He has been in practice for long time too. I know the dentists always want to scare me that I must take an antiobiotic but so far I have been able to stand tall. carol MorningGlory113@... wrote: I don't think antibiotics *cure* anything. They just suppress the symptoms. In this case, for several years. Hi Sharyn, I'm not sure of my stance on antibiotics. I rarely, rarely take them (in fact Lyme's was about the only time in 15 years), but I do believe they can kill bacterial infections. Most medications just surpress symptoms but I still have some faith in antibiotics for serious infections. I use them as an absolute last resort. Because I have a tendency
