Guest guest
I pull off the battery cover of my 3G and leave the batteries in when I put it into the D & S every night. I can't say enough good things about the D & S!! Anyone else have comments about what they do with the Dry n Store.
Guest guest
, I'm not sure which processor you havenor what type of batteries, but I have the Nucleus ESprit processor and I just slide the battery cover off, push the batteries through as far as they will go, then use the magnetic head coil to finish taking them out..really simple process for me, but like I said.. not sure which processor you have. Hope this was helpful to you. If not, I'm sure someone will be able to help you out here.. NONONO.. No question is stupid, nor should you be embarrassed to ask it!!! Guest guest
I've got the Freedom, and I use the corner of the cardboard battery 6 pack. But I think you can use the hook that goes behind your ear, too. Ted F. > > I'm almost embarassed to ask this question but.. is there a trick to > getting the batteries out of the BTE ear piece? Guest guest
Dear : As wrote, no reason at all for embarrassment! Matter of fact, you raised a very interesting topic, where opinion has varied, depending on who you read, on whether to remove or not remove batteries when placing the CI/HA in a drying device. Despite what your audie says, contemporary wisdom says that yes, the battery compartment should be opened, but it is not necessary to physically remove the cells before placing the device in the dryer. Katy Pindzola of Ear Technology Corp., maker of the popular Dry and Store device, wrote an article on this very issue in the October 2005 issue of Hearing Product Report, a trade magazine that I receive. In brief, studies have found that battery life may actually be enhanced by leaving them in device during the drying cycle! Here's the article: http://www.hearingproductsreport.com/article.php?s=HPR/2005/10 & p=2 ( http://tinyurl.com/hcbyc ) Katy can be reached at Ear Technology@ kap@... Hope that helps! Guest guest
Connie, Glad to hear I'm not the only one who uses the ear hook to pop out the batteries! They weren't easy to get out until I hit on that idea. I used my car keys prior to the ear hook. :-) As for the Dry & Store, it depends for me but I usually remove the battery holder out of the BTE and put the whole kaboodle in the box. I did hear from my audi that you really need to be careful with the holder as you can break it easily especially the end part where you push it into the BTE. Guest guest
On the 3G all the batteries are easy to remove. On the Freedom the bottom battery is harder to remove and I have to push harder to get it out.

Guest guest
I have a Tempo+ processor. I don't have a dry n store. I have a container that looks like a oversized pill bottle (called a drying beaker) and there's a drying disk in it. I put the whole unit/minus batteries in it each evening. It was suggested to do this nitely because of the high humidity this time of the year. I'm going to try some of these tips... Thanks everyone! Guest guest
, I've a friend who has the Med EL.. not sure which model, but she's very pleased with her results! Probably a personal decision as to whether you remove the batteries or not. I sweat overtime in the summer and wear my processor 14-17 hours a day.. I just remove the battery cover at night and put the processor in the dry and store.. the portable one I got which is probably similar to what you use.. I've never had a moisture problem in almost 5 years of being implanted... either way.. relatively simple to get the batteries if you wish to go that route. Guest guest
Hi, , If you have disposable batteries, they can go into your drying unit, too. Some swear it prolongs the life of the batteries, but that is not proven. In any case, if you store the processor in the unit overnight, you can do it minus the batteries about once a week to be sure everything gets really dry. Nice to meet you. ) Jackie
