Adro vs Open Program

Good Morning,

Well for a long time I have been " hearing " people say

they have an open program and use it instead of Adro.

At first I kept thinking why not use Adro something

that in my mind was a newer/better technology. Well

now seven months post activation I'm beginning to

rethink my position.

Here is what I am experiencing and I would like to ask

those who have an open program and use it regularly

what they think. I am finding that if there is some

noise (last night in the yard with the sprinkler going

for example) that the noise causes the Adro program to

lower the volume not only of the sprinkler sound but

of the voices -- I know that I didn't have it on

auto-sensitivity. If I am understanding Adro

correctly it means that the program chooses the

electrodes automatically for me--once explained to me

as a step above auto-sensitivity.

Ok so my question for those of you who have an open

program. If I am understanding it correctly an open

program means that all your electrodes fire all the

time and there is no selective firing so does that

mean that when the sprinkler running will not cause a

drop in the volume of any of the sound. Is it sort of

like the old analog hearing aids where everything is

magnified and if so do you think it gives you a more

realistic sound as you remember it before you lost

your hearing. I would assume it would be better than

analog hearing aids in that the hearing aids only

amplify what hearing you have left.

I'm just trying to pick some of your brains as the

more I wear my CI the more I notice things like this

and want to learn more. I have had amazing results

and wouldn't trade the last seven months for anything

but I'm also always open for trying something new and

hopefully even some day bi laterals.

Thanks!!!

Connie
