Guest guest
, Gosh, doesn't seem like it's been 30 days already, but the results are sounding great! Just think.. it's only the beginning and you have much more to look forward to. So glad things are sounding better and that you are making such great progress. Continued good wishes for future ci moments! Hugs, silly MI In , " Kozlik " <lisak70@t...> wrote: > Hi everyone, > > As you know, I had an appointment today to see the audiologist for a > mapping. Guest guest
This sounds Much better. I’m glad to read that you are happy again and that you got your old map back too How does it sound to you now? You seem to be doing well with the testing too! I too am glad you went today but I still would have kept that appt on the 15th - just in case. They can always be cancelled. Alice * . -- No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
Hi Alice, Today's (older) map sounds great! Voices and sounds are now comfortable to hear. Although voices still sound high pitched, they are no longer harsh or tinny like they were with my previous map. Tonight I've already begin to notice that I can discern pitch, rhythm and intonation changes in speech. Instead of giving me a completely new map with new T and C levels, my audi decided to give me my older map (from 2 weeks ago) and work with that for now. She made this decision after I commented that my old map was still " too loud " -- even though it wasn't any louder than the map I was currently using. Now that I've become accustomed to what I'm hearing, I think I'll be in good shape to make further changes whether that be a few days, next week or next month. No matter what happens from this point on, it's a huge relief to know that I can always ask for an older map. I currently have 3 additional programs to work with, so that should keep me busy for awhile. <smile> So far, I really like what I'm hearing!! It's nice being able to wear my CI again and have a map I can hear with!! Guest guest
Silly, I think my audi's math may be off a bit. According to my calculation, it has only been just over 3 weeks. Oh well. I guess 23 days is close enough to a month. LOL! She categorized my progress today (Thursday) as a one month follow up that would have taken place on the 15, which in turn, would have only been 3 days to a month. Confused? So am I! LOL! I'm doing great today! My map sounds comfortable and I'm able to discern rhythm and pitch changes in speech like I could before. I also have some speech understanding -- although I don't know how much (i.e. listening to TV and radio). Today I plan to do some listening exercises on the Randall's site and/or listen to the radio to get some kind of an estimate. Overall, I'm very pleased with today's (Thursday's) results. What a difference a day makes!! Guest guest
, Is this with the old map or are you using a new one you got yesterday. It sure sounds good. I’m so glad you are doing better. Alice <Overall, I'm very pleased with today's (Thursday's) results. What a difference a day makes!! > -- No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
Hi Alice, I'm using my old map (from 2 weeks ago) with 3 additional programs/volume adjustments. Given the difficulty I had adjusting to and functioning with my last map, my audi thought it would be best that I continue using my old map for now so that I could maintain some degree of speech understanding, maintain my safety while traveling outdoors in traffic and become re-accustomed to what I'm hearing with my CI. I know this probably sounds like I'm taking a step backwards, but I think this " temporary " adjustment period will enable me to have a fresh start and an open mind when it comes to my next map. So far, this older map seems to be working the best out of any map I've had so far. Guest guest
Pam, Thanks for the encouragement!! Instead of doing listening exercises, I spent the day running errands. I most likely won't be doing any listening exercises this weekend either since the weather is expected to be in the 40's -- quite nice for this time of year. Instead of staying indoors, I'm going outside to enjoy it before the colder weather returns.
