Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Well, it has happened to me and I could kick myself for not taking better care so that it wouldn't happen. My 3G no longer works as of this past Sunday. I went to my brother's, last week, to help him and his wife work, in the food tent, at their Church Fair. I didn't pack my Dry and Store but did pack a sandwich size container of Hal-Hen Dry Aid beads to put my processor in to dry out. It was hot and humid; but all was going well until Thursday when my 3G started crackling. I was working the beverage and salad station at the time. I discoverd that if I kept manipulating the switches, the connection would eventually get better for a short time so I kept working my station since I could still hear through the crackling and could still get a connection. It seemed to clear up after being in the dry aid beads overnight; but then the next night it did the same thing within 15 minutes of starting my shift. I had help that night so I kept on working since I didn't have to rely solely on my hearing. Again, after a night in the dry aid beads, it was doing okay the next day with just a few crackling throughout the day. Within 15 minutes of starting my station at the Fair, my 3G went dead and no manipulating of the switches could fix it. I then asked to change places with a lady who was washing trays along with a 10 yr girl and a guy since that required no hearing. It was not a bad job. The 10 yr old girl enjoyed yakking away to me even though she knew I couldn't hear a thing. I got a kick out of lipreading her the whole night. I kept telling her next year I will be able to hear her when she talks away. Yes, I will be back to work it again but next year I will definitely pack my Dry and Store, BWP and my yardwork sweatband. I have an appointment on Friday morning to turn in my broken 3G. My audie has already contacted Cochlear and ordered a replacement. Hopefully it will be there on Friday. In the meantime, I'm back to wearing my BWP and doing very well with it. But, I won't miss the cord once I do get my new 3G. If it was going to happen at all, I'm glad it happened while it was still under warranty. Dry and Store....never leave home without it! Have a great week, everyone! Patti N24C 11/25/02 (What A Day!)
