You guys are a scream! I have packs of 675 batteries everywhere...on

my desk, in the kitchen, on my night stand, in my great room,

handbag...you name it. I never get up to get batteries from anywhere.

Dixie :))

PS...they weigh next to nothing...not sure I can even measure the

weight!

Virg,

Are you saying your AB only requires one 675 battery or one rechargeable

battery? Just want to make sure I understand your post. Thanks.

Virg, I can’t imagine the size of the device that would take 675

batteries…it definitely wouldn’t be hanging on my ear…and could you image

how long it would take to change batteries, let alone the cost!!

I particularly like the choice of batteries when I travel. I don’t pack the

recharger, I just grab a pack of #675 and they will last me for a good weeks

trip plus away from home. A lot less hassle in the hotel room or campsite not

having to recharge my batteries. Ruth

LOL! I was being facetious, interpreting 675 as a quantity. I understand

that the cochlear only requires 3 #675 batteries.

The AB Harmony only uses a rechargeable cell. 'Doesn't use primary cells at

all.

I imagine the choice would be handy.

Actually my Cochlear processor requires THREE type '675' batteries.

Since we don't get a rechargable battery with our implants in

Australia, that means three disposable batteries every 3 days for me.

:-(

Does the AB processor really only require one single battery?? Or

are you just being facetious (means funny, sort of).

Yes, just one battery, but it's a rechargeable battery of the needed

voltage. I think the reason you need 3 type 675 batteries is to supply the

proper voltage.

The Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries used in all three of the major CI

brands, conveniently, have the same voltage output ( 3.6-3.7) as three type

675 Zinc-Air (1.2 -1.3) wired in series, as the are in CIs

Assuming your rate of usage and the cost of PowerOne CI type 675s in

quantity in the land of King Obama, the cost over the estimated life of the

Lithium - Ion batteries will be in the range of 1/3 that of Zinc-Airs.

You want to check up on that, . I got my Freedom BTE processor, plus a

body worn controller. Plus a charger and either 2 or 4 rechargeable batteries,

which I still havent used. The rechargeables wont fit my BTE controller, but

they will fit the body worn controller. Also as part of my Cochlear " kit " , I got

spare battery cages, ear hooks, microphone covers, spare coils, cables etc. My

op was done at the Mater in Brisbane too, mine was financed by the Qld State

government. I know we used the same surgeon and you went private, but I would

have still thought you would have been given the same or similar " kit " of spares

and other goodies, from Cochlear.

Good to see/hear/read you.
