Freedom Mapping

Tomorrow I have an appointment with my audi and surgeon.

When I see my audi I will have my spare Freedom programmed for my N24CA.

Based on all of the glowing comments I've read about the Freedom, I'm very

excited to see how much of a difference it will make in my hearing. I love

my 3G, but sounds aren't as crisp or clear as they are with my Freedom. I

also love having the ability to use ADRO. The jury is still out as to how

well I like BEAM, but I think my feelings will change for the better once I

have enough volume to work with.

I believe I may also be tested in the sound booth for pure tone and speech

discrimination testing. It will be interesting to see how well I hear with

two CIs as opposed to one.

I also have an appointment with my surgeon to discuss the bilateral tinnitus

I've been experiencing since my second CI surgery. Based on my description

of the symptoms I've been having, he told me in an e-mail that it sounds as

if I may have pulsatile tinnitus (i.e. tinnitus that coincides with one's

heartbeat), but that this is uncommon for a person with my type of hearing

loss. I also have subjective tinnitus, so I'll be anxious to see if he can

find any causes (and hopefully some relief!) for either.

I'll keep everyone posted on how my Freedom activation goes! Yes -- my day

has finally come!
