Yes, that's *very* normal (and will get better over time)! My audi told me

that many CI users don't like the sound of their own voice. I've been

activated for 6 months and I *still* don't like the sound of my voice. LOL!

(It sounds very high pitched and whiny.) However, this is something you'll

learn to adapt to. When I hear myself talk, I no longer think about the way

my voice sounds. I also find that I can control the pitch/whininess of my

voice through the implant by monitoring my voice.

the batteries. This was at 1:30. By 7 last night they were dead again. I

got 120 batteries with the implant. I hear some people say they got a whole

year's worth. I need to order more. Hopefully they are lemon batteries and

not something wrong with the processor.<<

This is most likely a problem due to the batteries. I would try a new

package and see if that helps. If not, let your audi know about this at your

next mapping.

That's GREAT Elsa!! I don't know about you, but when I first heard the

clicks of my computer keyboard, I thought it sounded like popcorn. LOL!

Yes...Dogs can be quite loud. At I wear my processor to bed while listening

to the radio and I can hear Tigger snoring. <grin> I can also hear her paws

going clickety-clack on a wood or tiled floor.

LOL! It's ironic you should mention how loud your husband talks. I've

noticed that too with my friends and family!! In fact, some of them forget I

can hear now yet they continue to shout at me. When I hear how loud they

talk to me, it makes me cringe. And to voices were barely audible with

hearing aids!!

> Dear Folks: I was suppose to get activated on July 5th but they moved it

up a week because I was the first one to get a Freedom and they needed time

to open up the box and read directions. My appointment was at ten and I was

out the door at 10:50. When she activiated me I just heard noise. I could

read her lips and she was asking if I could hear her. I said no, " Just

noise. " I then noticed that when she stopped talking the noise would stop.

She told me thinks will get better. I know it will and I am VERY patient so

I am excited. I have

> only 2 programs. Loudness and sensitivity. Loudness goes only to 9 and

she wants me to keep it there. Sensitivity does up to 20 but she says 12 is

for my second mapping and maybe a 3rd program. I have VERY ,VERY thick hair

and she changed the magnet from a 4 to a 5. She said it was the strongest.

If it continues to fall off she said we may have to shave a little bit so

the magent will stick. Things seem to be improving today. I am going out to

practice. The keys on the keyboard sound wonderful. My dog is so LOUD!!
