FM system

I've had a FM system for many months. I have had to send it back

for repairs TWICE. The company has, IMO, been VERY user

UNFRIENDLY. It's now in a box alongside my desk needing to be once again

sent back. It quit working.

Also, the ear piece they supply is way too large in diameter. It just barely

hangs in the outer edges of my ear canal. But I am going to send it in once

again. I did find that it worked quite well when it was working, strictly

on an 1 on 1 basis. I tried using it at a family get-together, placing the

mike in the center of the table. Forget it! Amplified noise of chatter,

knives, forks, spoons, and grandkids. I also tried using it in church. (I

attend a relatively small, not-so-well-off Traditional Catholic chapel.) by

dangling the mike down in front of the sound systems speaker out in the

vestibule (where the Moms or Dads take their crying bambinos). That didn't

work so well.

I am now experimenting with another type FM system that has headphones. I

have used it successfully at home listening to audio tapes. But we haven't

yet been able to get it compatible with the existent system in our church

building. (It's also an FM system with the mike on Father's lectern

transmitting to a receiver in back of the church, which is hard-wired to a

couple of speakers.)

I'm anxious to find out whether or not I can benefit from a CI. I have some

fear that I am going to be right on that borderline - where HA's are of

minimal help (I've had several different types.), and yet not enought

hearing loss to qualify (Medicare and medically speaking) for a CI. As I

said, I am just now filling out the papers and trying to gather up previous

audiology test results. Difficult, we moved around quite a bit in my career

as an educator.
