Working - Recovery after CI Surgery

I think you will get varied opinions on this question, but the bottom line

is plan for a couple of weeks of min. I wanted to go back to work the day

after surgery, and I felt good enough to do that, but I was told by my

surgeon to take 2 weeks (and my wife found out so I was busted!!!) I

actually talked the Doc into agreeing to my return to work after one week, I

told him all I did was sit on my butt and work at a computer, and if I was

at home I would be cruising the net anyway…lol. I felt great almost as soon

as I woke up, but in the end I did take the advice of the Doc’s and everyone

in the forums. REST, REST, REST, oh and don’t over do things too soon.

Regarding activation, ask the CI center how long you have to wait for that,

I waited a month, but I have heard of some in the US that are activated in

as few as 2 weeks, the Surgeon or Audi you deal with can tell you for sure.

I am sure you will get lots of advise, and keep asking the questions that is

how you get the answers.;-)

Please bear with these what may sound like stupid questions, but

honestly can help me when/if to have the ci.. How long have you had

to

stay out of work when this is done? I am guessing that between the

time

of the surgery and the time of activation you have no hearing. My job

is working on the telephone and if I am not able to do that for a

while

then I need to let my company know asap so they can make other

arrangements. I do not work July and August, but many have told me

not

to wait that long to have it done. Of which I agree.. But I also

cannot

afford to risk my job by not being able to work. Right now the

ampliphied telephone helps mostly. Though the stress is quite high.
