Guest guest
>>AB had to change how they advertised this strategy because saying it was 120 channels was misleading so now they call it spectral bands.<< , Actually it was not at all misleading, as AB is able to current steer to 120 distinct extra pitches in the cochlea that was previously not possible in a wearable processor. It really does fill in a lot of the missing sounds. When the FDA approves things they have their own guidelines on what things can be called. The FDA decided what we now have are " spectral bands " or extra pitches. If Med El and Cochlear are able to do this in the future, then they will also be called " spectral bands " for your company also. Just the way the FDA works! Personally I think " channels " is an easier way to visualize it for most people and simplifies it. I have been in trials with this for a long time and was actually the first person to be " fired up " with HiRes 120. The extra virtual pitches can be tested independently...and I hear them as well as I hear the channels anchored to electrodes, Amazing stuff!
