Young and Restless -- Advanced Bionics donated device for show!

Hey all,

I am new to this board. I don't have a cochlear implant (yet

anyway).

I caught the Nov. 22 episode of the Young and the Restless where the

CI device was mentioned.

I looked up info. online and found the following link which says

that Advanced Bionics donated the device used on the show and that

the Dec. 6 episode would be when Devon (the character with the

implant) would be activated.

On the show I wonder if the actor will just wear the processor and

not the transmitter when he actually wears the device because he

doesn't have a magnet in his head for it to attach to. Also the

device is black which is the same color as Devon's hair.

Hmmm... I've never seen cochlear implant TV ads; they should make

ads with the actor in the show who plays Devon! I wonder if they

will mention that it is an advanced bionics device on the show.

Also, it's interesting, I saw a clip of an earlier episode and

sometimes Devon can seem to hear or lipread quite well and then the

person talking to him mentions the fact that he can't hear them.

Other times it's like Devon tries to delay his response to simulate

the longer time understanding someone who couldn't hear would have

to do for communication. It seems to shift back and forth! Just

thought I'd mention this observation!
