It certainly is wonderful being more balanced. With being able to place both

sides on Bean at martial arts and in the restaurant I can hear better. I am

now listening to talking books and getting the gist of the stories, though I

miss minor parts. Other than the news, TV was a struggle and it is starting

to come along without being connected to auditory cords, though I have a

ways to go.

Subject: Excited!

I just learned from Cochlear that a different controller will *not* be

required in order for my Freedom processor to work with my N24. I'm so

excited because this means I can have both of my Freedoms programmed for

each implant! After my Freedom has been mapped (my next appointment is in

December), I will be sure to share my experiences with the list. I can't

wait!

Right ear - Nucleus Freedom

It sounds like the Freedom has really made a positive difference for you!

Have you tried ADRO yet? If so, what have your experiences been?

I'm still trying to get used to BEAM. I find the overall volume level of

BEAM to be too quiet for me to understand speech. I may ask my audi if she

can increase the volume to see if that will make a difference. If not, I

might replace BEAM with Whisper. Right now I use ADRO in noisy environments

and it seems to be working quite well.

Do you have both of your Freedom processors set to the same volume or

sensitivity level (For example, 9 or 12 on each side) or do you have one

processor turned up a little higher than the other? I currently have my

Freedom locked to the default setting of 9 (for a volume map), but I plan to

ask my audi to change it so that I can adjust volume and sensitivity.

Lynn,

I know! <smile>

I'm on a limited income and found myself wondering how I was going to save

$1,000 by January 1st. This experience taught me a valuable lesson: When in

doubt, ask Cochlear! (A friend contacted Cochlear for me and gave me the

good news this afternoon.)

Now...if only I could have my next mapping appointment moved from December

to October! LOL!

Wow, that is something to " hear " lightning. I agree the thunder is more

powerful sounding with 2 CIs. I did not like Beam til I have Freedoms on

both ears. ADRO sometimes works in noisy settings for me but not

consistently. I tend to use ACE more. I keep both CIs at volume 5 and

sensitivity at 12, and it is easier to do this with the Freedom than with

the 3G. Of course, I may vary from these settings depending on the setting.

Aubrey went in for her 6th cast today and Dr.A got her down to 8* in cast! He didnt do an xray before so i dont know what she was out of cast but im pretty darn excited that she was at 71* when we started and were down to 8* in cast #6. She goes back April 25th to get the cast removed and gets cast #7 put on the 29th, and then six weeks from the 29th she will get her brace for a little "vacation" so she can go swimming on our vacation! Im thrilled beyond words that she has got this much correction!! It was such good news to hear for once!Chelsea mom to aubrey 2 years old8* in cast #6
