Guest guest
Hi Robyn: Sweat just fried my 2nd 3G during the 3 years I've been plugged in. It is covered by the warrantee. Don't know about the battery life and humidity? Hal
Guest guest
Robin, Humidity does affect battery life although I can't say I've noticed much difference here in NYC. I put my 3G processor in the Dry and Store every night without fail and also give it a couple of cycles right after coming home from a sweaty day. If your processor is still under warranty then you are covered by Cochlear fron any problems that may arise due to sweat and moisture. You can get more details by emailing Linn at info@.... Guest guest
, Interesting you say that. I live in NC and believe me it gets humid here! However, I haven't notice it affecting my battery life. I still get about three days worth which for me is good! Guest guest
Pam, Sounds to me like you might have gotten an inconsistent lot of batteries. Hopefully the next box you buy will be of better quality.
Guest guest
As long as we're talking about batteries for a minute I would like to ask a question and share a concern. The explanation is long so please bear with me. I received my 3G processor in December 2004 at activation (after implant in November 2004). For the first few months I had a short but consistent two days of battery life (meaning about 30 hours of actual use taking non use time into consideration). I could easily guage when the batteries were going to need changing. I had my last mapping in May and started out getting 3 to 4 wonderful days of battery life after that. However, shockingly, one day I put new batteries in and they only lasted two hours. I couldn't believe I heard those beeps so soon and then lost power. I rearranged the batteries, cleaned the processor and tested all the components before putting new batteries in. I saved those batteries though and tried them again 4 days later when I needed new ones again. These batteries lasted me a full day on this try. Then for a couple weeks I got 3 days.. then I had an 8 hour day, then some two day stretches, a three day, and yesterday a 6 hour stretch which really surprised me. I'm saving these again to see if they will last a day the next time I need batteries. Because of this erratic battery use/life it is hard for me to guage when I am going to need batteries (obviously). Has anyone else had this problem? Does it mean that there is something amiss with my processor? Any ideas will be appreciated. Just to answer a few of the obvious questions I will add that all batteries have 2006 expiration dates and are kept in their sealed packages until use, I turn my processor off at night, and my listening situations don't vary that much. I've not been able to identify any pattern that would explain this... unless humidity would have something to do with it. Thanks for any hints or ideas or reports of similar situations. Guest guest
I have a battery question too. Prior to the second implant (Freedom), my 3G BTE batteries lasted 1 1/2 days. Since the Freedom, they last 1 day. My Freedom batteries last 2 1/2 days. I put them all in the Dry & Store every night. Is it typical for the first CI batteries to go faster with the addition of the second CI?
Guest guest
-- I got my 2nd CI 10 months after the first one. My battery life did increase on the first one only because I didn't have to use as power to hear. On the old one the life is about 6 days give or take and the new one goes on 5 days. I don't have as much maxima on the left but the right is a standard maxima of 10. I think as you adjust to bilateral hearing, you will find (or should find ) that the battery life will approve. Guest guest
Hi ; That could be. My problem batteries are coming from the last of the boxes that were given to me with activation. Exp date is Sept 2006. The new supply of batteries I just received from cochlear expire Feb 2008 so maybe they will work better. Hopefully it is not something going on with my processor somehow mis-reading the batteries' power supply. Pam
Guest guest
Interesting, Snoopy, your battery life increased. The other thing I noticed about the 3G BTE is that its volume is at the top since using the Freedom on the other ear. Would you know why?
