I can't remember their breeding cycle for sure but I think it is about 40 days (maybe less, maybe I'm thinking of mosquitos)...but anyway you need to keep the plastic bag of beer even after you think the fruit flies are gone. Guest guest
Dear Lynn, Glad to help but not any special thing from me. I got it from someone along the line. Fruit flies need sugar! Something is breaking down into sugars in your trays. Be careful because they are prolific little creatures and you may have more ff's than sprouts. Buckwheat has certain germination requirements. It makes a nice " lettuce " but not one of my favorites so I don't know much about it. 's suggestion to use peroxide on the seed first is good. I try to get clean seed to start at the local health food store...since I live in Hawaii it is cheaper than having it sent from mainland...so far no problems. I only grow and eat for one person. ( OT: kombucha is agreat source of probioticsl as good as noni and much less expensive and so is kefir. You can get both from someone around free probably.) Love and Joy and Blessings, TeeJay

I guess it will be best to dump this tray and start all over with buckwheat. I'm sure the seed is fine; maybe it's just been too long of a time in that tray and it's breaking down into sugars. Again thanks. Lynne in TX

Guest guest
, Experience and testing showed some better comprehension (93% to 100%).
Guest guest
, Wow, that's quite a difference! Congratulations on scoring 100%! <smile> I still have yet to score that high -- although I hope to at next month's bilateral testing. If the high pitched sounds I hear now with my Freedom don't stabilize by next month, perhaps I'll ask my audi for a program change. One thing I need to remind myself is to be patient. LOL! The sounds I hear with the N24C are lower pitched than the Freedom, but when used together, sound " normalized " and exactly as I remember with and without hearing aids. I'm now at the point where my Freedom enhances what I hear with the N24C, so when the batteries go out on one CI, I quickly change them because I don't like to be without either of them. <smile> Left ear - Nucleus 24 Contour Advance with 3G Implanted: 12/22/04 Activated: 1/18/05 Right ear - Nucleus Freedom Implanted: 2/1/06 Activated: 3/1/
Guest guest
what about a week, am I getting what I should out of it. About all I hear now are sounds of people talking, running water, the telephone that kind of stuff is that right. I'm worried I'm doing something wrong LOL...Patsy

Guest guest
, , What are you talking about? ace? 900 and 1200 hertz? Huh? I know what hertz is but...? Got a question for you... I am not hearing lowbass sounds in music. I was fitted with a processor on Jan. 12 of this year so it has been two and a half months. Am I missing something? Or will that come later? I used to hear low sounds with an hearing aid very well but now I can't. I know music sounds very messy to me right now and it will sound better later. My audiologist is so swamped as two other audie left the clinic so she is stuck with about 1000 clients! BTW, anyone out there looking for a job? It's in Miami . We need new audies here... Janice : Question > , > > What is the sound difference and/or clarity that you notice between 900 Hz > and 2400 Hz? Just curious. Guest guest
My understanding is the 900/1200 Hz is the frequency that the speech processor runs at. Faster can often = better but the downside is power consumption increases as well, battery life is the trade-off. My audi doesn't believe that the higher frequency would make any appreciable difference and as I only get two days out of a set of batteries I'm in no hurry to change. The bass will come - and music will sound better. I can't really put a date on when the bass/music thing happened for me but it seemed that one day, music didn't sound as crappy as it previously had. I was implanted 15 months ago. At 2 1/2 months, you have a way to go yet! NZ > Re: : Question > > > , , > > What are you talking about? ace? 900 and 1200 hertz? Huh? I > know what hertz > is but...? Guest guest
If you mean a week of battery life - all I can say is " I wish... " Your description of what you are hearing is probably about right. Bear in mind that the CI is first and foremost a speech processor, so that is where the hardware and software engineers who designed and built these things put their main focus. That we are able to get so much more out of them, given time and persistance, is a testimony to the ability of the human brain to adapt. (IMHO, YMMV, offers void where prohibited by law, etc) > Re: : Question > > > what about a week, am I getting what I should out of > it. Guest guest
Ah sorry, I replied without looking who I was replying to. (thought I was talking to janinfla) Will if you've only been going a week and you're hearing that much, I'd say things are looking pretty good > Re: : Question > > > peter no a week after activation>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > > >
Guest guest
Janice, did an excellent job describing program speeds (, please feel free to chime in whenever you feel like it! <smile>), but the various speeds 720 (?), 900, 1200, 1800 and 2400 Hz represent the various programming speeds available on the Freedom and 3G speech processors. 2400 is considered to be the fastest speed while 700 is the slowest. ACE, CIS and SPEAK are the programming strategies used to fine tune speech for the best understanding. I'm currently using ACE at 900 Hz for both CIs and find that it provides the clearest speech for my needs. Other CI users perform better with higher rates of programming speeds. Hope this helps!
