Guest guest
and Gimmie-- I was born severely to profoundly deaf due to my mother having German measles during her pregnancy with me. As you can see I am now with 2 CIs but they do the normal CAT scan to make sure that there are no problems. Hope that answer your question Snoopy German Measles Was asked if this precludes use of a CI. I dont know how German Measles affects the ear so could not answer. Guest guest
Snoopy, Does it affects the auditory nerve itself? I think that was what concerned the person who asked me. I wonder too tho if people still think of the cilia as the nerve, yuh know, the old diagnosis of nerve deafness. You are doing great, no doubt about it. LOL Thanks! *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* I'm not tense, just terribly, terribly alert. & Gimlet (Guide Dawggie) Portland, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rlclark77@... http://home.comcast.net/~rlclark77/

Guest guest
Hi , There are many, many side effects from German measles. It generally affects fetal development when Mom catches the measles when pregnant. All the way from facial deformities, blindness, deafness, etc. All very nasty side effects. And as part of a study, I was once asked if I ever had German measles. Ohio State University was trying to find a link between childhood German measles and later hearing loss. I did have them as a child, and now I'm deaf, so there ya go. It doesn't preclude implanting far as I know.
