Guest guest
Hello Berti, The booth is in many ways an ideal microworld for using the cochlear implant. Real life is quite different, being very noisy. It does provide difficult conditions even for very experienced users. Yet, the implant is a big change to what one has with hearings aids. With the hearing aids I would hear nothing beside noise when I spoke to friends in a noisy environment. With the implant I can actually hear my friends' voice despite the noise. Remember, it might require time and patience till you are capable of doing that. About rehabilitation, you should remember that the more rehabilitation you do, the faster you will become an experienced CI user. You can do anything to practice: With family members reading words/newspaper articles with the mouth covered, listening to the TV and radio and more. Yet, do not forget that there are also things that are controlled by biological characteristics as well as what you have prior to the surgery that are different from person to person. That may change the rate at which one gets used to the implant and it cannot be predicted. Do not get discouraged, just keep you high spirits and hard work and it will work out just fine... Hope this helps.
