Guest guest
Hi , The mastoidectomy is basically what is done to get the implant device seated in your skull. Then you have to thread it through the cochlea. If you feel the one who has only done 10 last year is avoiding the question, go with the one who has done 200. They have to learn somewhere, let them learn on someone else. Why would it be a financial hardship to go to a larger center? Doesn't your insurance cover no matter which one you use? You can go anywhere for the mappings, so go with the surgeon you feel most comfortable using, and go to the audiologist you feel best using. The Original I'm tired of going back and forth to these two places and want to make a decision. But another part of me wants to go to a bigger center but it would be a real hardship for us financially and bc I have an 8 yr old daughter. These two centers are within reasonable driving distance (one is a bit over an hour and the other is a 2 hr drive).
