Guest guest
Hi Dolly, I just wanted to say congratulations to you!! I'm sure you must be so excited! I just have a question, though. How come you have to wait two years before your surgery? I don't understand that. That seems like an awfully long time! > > Hi Everyone, > > I had my hearing evaluation this morning. Guest guest
Hello Gayle I was on a waiting list in Australia and I was told at the time that it was 4 years long, but I was " done " in less than two. So, for one reason or another, waiting lists have a way of getting shorter. I hope your wait isnt too long. Ted F. > > Hi Everyone, > > I had my hearing evaluation this morning. Guest guest
Hi , The reason is that the surgery is not done here in my province, Manitoba. The adults has to go to Ottawa and the children goes to Toronto. Both Ottawa and Toronto only take so many out-of-town patients a year. Last year about 7 Manitobans adults went to Ottawa. There is at least 100 here in Winnipeg hoping for CI. I waited 15 months for the hearing evaluation (today). I had seen the ENT and had the Cat Scan done last year. Now to make an appointment with my ENT for a balance test. I had been trying to follow some of the CI's motto: PATIENCE (well the best I could with lots of grrrr!!) PRAYER (most of time my fins on hips looking upward with the " WELL WHEN? looks) POSITIVE ATTITUDE (Well I think I flunk that one the last few months as I was so sure the answer was going to be NO! Well, even a dolphin can be wrong) The others - PRACTICE, PERSISTENCE and PERSEVERANCE will come after the surgery. Dolly Dolphin Re: I'm a candidate! Guest guest
Thank you everyone for your " congratulation " messages. My Intervenor was more excited with the good new (grinning from ear to ear) as she " YEAH!!! " and did a little dance on the way to her car to take me home. Mind you, I was doing the " !! " and dancing inside my body until I got closer to her car then I said out loud " YEAH! YIPPEE!! " , then we both hugs each other. Did I celebrate? Nope, I had a quick lunch and head fast to my bed for a good sleep as I did not sleep a wink last night, gee I wonder why? (giggling here). The weather was perfect today too, sunny and warm not like the last time (March) when we went to the clinic doing the paperwork and looking at the samples of the processor, etc. it was snowing hard (which made the driving hard and the snow was deep in front of the clinic), cold, windy, ohh what the heck, it was simply a miserable weather, lol. Eeks!! Just look at the time 7:45 pm and my stomach is growling like a bear, so I better go and have a nice dinner. Guest guest
Wow Dolly, I had no idea that the CI process could take so long if you lived outside the U.S. That's unbelievable!! Here I am crying about wanting a surgery date and I was just approved as of March 7th!! Well, this just makes me realize how fortunate I am, I guess, that things here are a lot quicker than where you live. I really hope that seeing you have vision problems too, they'll move you up more quickly!! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and I hope all goes well from here on out! Congrats again, Dolly! > > > > Hi Everyone, > > > > I had my hearing evaluation this morning. Guest guest
Dolly Congratulations on your CI candidacy. Now you can begin your CI journey with another wait. Could Canada make another exception in your case because of your blindness and let you have your CI in United States? Snoopy
