Guest guest
Hi , I am not sure I can be a great deal of help, being in Canada our service providers and plans are much different, but I use a Samsung A740 which has been a great phone for me. It is a camera phone which is not going to be much use to you, but the unit does have some great Voice Activation features, such as auto dialing when you say a persons name etc. I find it is great when just using my CI Mic, but also works well with my tCoil when I am in a noisy environment, my only complaint is I find the key pad kind of small, but that is a minor issue the phone is not expensive and it is nice and clear. I have also tried a regular telephone headset I use at work and that is super, it is a Plantronics and because the Cell and my office Telephone Amp both use a 2.5mm Jack the headset is interchangeable, which is a bonus. If you check with the Cell Providers in your area there is another model Samsung the same as mine with out the camera and I suspect it is even less, right now we get these free with a 2 year contract, but like I said our plans a re much different. Hope this helps ;-) Regards Mike " Ears Hopin " P Implanted June 3rd, 2005 Activated July 6th, 2005 Nucleus Freedom Message: 3 Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2005 10:13:50 -0600 From: " Kozlik " <lisak70@...> Subject: Question about Cell Phones As many of you know, I've been using a Sony sson " candy bar " shaped cell phone for the past several months. Although I love this phone for its accessibility and clarity of sound, I'm considering the purchase of a clamshell phone which will make it easier for me to hear others when I initiate a phone call. For those of you who are currently using a clamshell phone with your CI, what brand/model are you using? If any of you are using a cell phone with a neckloop or similar attachments , I would appreciate hearing about your experiences as well. Thanks! <smile> ! By the way, there are several cell phones on the market which have specialized software which allow it to " talk. " The software allows a blind or visually impaired person to access almost all of the features available on a cell phone including voice male, text messaging, address book and calendar. I would *love* to have a phone like this, but can't afford it since the total cost of the phone and software can be as high as $600 or more . <gulp> LOL!
