,

You can ehar me now...in stereo! What a thrill it has to be. Oh yes a

thrill to hear me. LOL

So interesting how the two initial experiences differ yet both have been

good ones. Now get caught with emails and dump some lists so I dont have to

wait a week or a month to get replies. LOL (rumples Tigger's ears since

would not want hers rumpled!)

How's this for a quick reply? LOL!

To make this list related, I haven't forgotten about helping you obtain

bilaterals. I plan to talk to my audi next week. Please feel free to send me

an e-mail reminder if you wish. <smile>

hi ,

I thought I would jump in here and say I also love my Freedom! I am also

looking forward to the Freedom becoming available for the n24C.

I have also noticed more clarity in music with bilateral hearing. I

have also been able to hear much better in crowds, restaurants, and while

sitting in the back of a car. I know our experience will get better. What

a blessing! Larry

Interesting how our initial experiences with similar CIs can be so

different. For the Freedom it was high pitch for you and it was low pitch,

basey for me. Your first CI was metallic whereas I only recall hearing

unrecognizeable noises and could not recognize speech.

Hi !

I really enjoyed reading your post about going bilateral. I don't

know what that is like so I really enjoy when people post their

experiences about hearing out of both sides of their heads. I'm

thrilled that the Freedom is working out so well for you! Continued

success to you!

Hi,

I think it depends on the clinic. Some do and some don't. My clinic has

let me use both CIs from the beginning. One is over 5 years old, the

other was activated in early December. Your audiologist would probably

be the best person to ask.

My audi asked me to turn off my first CI during the activation of my second

CI. This allowed her to determine how well I could understand speech with

the second CI. It also gave me a chance to compare the sound quality between

the first and second CI. Once my T and C levels were set for the second CI

and my audi learned that I could not understand speech with my second CI, I

was permitted to turn on the first CI (which also allowed me to tell if both

CIs sounded balanced). From that day on, my CI audi encouraged me to

use both CIs together, but to also practice with the second CI alone from

time to time so that I could develop my speech understanding.
