Hi a,

I always use telecoil when I'm on the phone. It not only blocks out

the background noise, but also raises the volume of the phone. Since

it's so easy to use, why wouldn't you?

I have the 3G processor, with my Nucleus 24, and will find out how the

telecoil is accessed on the Freedom processor in a couple of weeks when I

get it mapped. It's sitting here in it's box, and me with no time for an

appt. But if it's as easy to use as it is on the 3G, then by all means,

go for it.

You were just activated in August. It took me close to 3 months to

start using the phone (and this was with an older processor that didn't

have the telecoil on it). So give yourself time to get used to it.

Remember the phone is a mechanical device, and so is the processor. So

it takes some practice. But that's why there are all those cool toll

free numbers = besides Time and Weather. If there isn't a list on

of toll free numbers to practice, there should be!!

I think I read somewhere that there is even a bedtime story hotline

that you can call and listen to. So, any listening practice is GOOD.

Good luck,

Was just hooked up in August. I am wondering about telephone

useage. Do most people use the t-coil or just put the receiver on

the microphone part of the processer.

Thank you so much for your reassurance on using the telephone. Do

Hi a,

Larry listed the toll free number in this same posting, so you should

have it. Soap opera updates, stock reports and so forth.

Larry wrote: 800-555-8355 has a main menu. They give the weather but

also give stock quotes, soap opera updates, and much more.

BTW, when you are replying to a message, just highlight the area that

concerns what you are answering. No need to send the entire forum back

each time. We have several deafblind members, and they have to scroll

down through lots of things to get to the next message. Even those of us

with sight, have to scroll down. So just use the cut and paste features

of your computer, and include the part of a message that you are replying

to.

And in a strange coincidence, my parents almost named me a.
