Guest guest
Wow, Pam, WHAT a great activation. The kind we all dream about, and so few have. And it will only continue to get better. Loved the stuff about the dog's ears flapping. You must have a pup with long ears. Wait until she walks across a bare floor and you hear the tapping of the nails. Or until she howls. Long ears = howling in my experience. Glad that those near and dear to you were able to be there for your big day. Better hearing on the way. Nucleus Volunteer post lingual - auto immune Hello everyone; I'm finally back from Seattle (got back yesterday) and when I re-activated my CI Hear email it took a little while to get back on the list but not nearly so long as last time so I think the part of this list is working much better now (Thanks to Alice and her hard work). The airline lost our luggage and I was a bit on edge because all my new equipment was in it.. but luckily we located and retrieved it about 6 hours after our arrival home. What a relief! We left Seattle on an 8am flight Saturday morning and it was like Coney Island at the Sea-Tac Airport that morning. I was activated last Monday and it was just a wonderful moment! Two of my daughters were there, one son in law and my partner. All of us were in tears just finding out that the implant was functioning on all its *cylindars*.. to say nothing of a short time later when the audi turned on the program. Immediately there were a bunch of beepy noises and I thought that this would take a while to get used to but within 15 seconds I was understanding every word the audiologist was saying to me! Yipee!! I could understand anyone who stood or sat in front of me and spoke clearly... so for the rest of that day I was riding on a cloud! Two days later he did some more testing and raised all the thresholds.. then the next day we went over the equipment and the next day even more fiddling with programs. He sent me home to Anchorage with one program I can understand speech with and one that sounds like someone is talking in a low tone with a mouth full of marbles. I'm supposed to try to work with that one to gain some better understanding of what I am hearing with it and then make another appointment for mapping here in Anchorage in about three weeks. So for now the adventure is unfolding and I'm having a great time! Today I unwrapped my *Dry and Store* to set it up.. was wondering if people leave it plugged in all the time? Does it turn itself off after 8 hours or do you pull the plug every day? Do you take your processor cover off each time? CI moment--- Seeing my dog shake herself and hearing her ears flap-flap-flap-flap in rapid succession! Cute! Hugs all!! Pam
