Well, three weeks sounds early to me. Before I left I'd have the doc,

or some doc, decide if they were adequately healed. If they're not,

forget the tubing or other swimming. Your doc should tell you when you

can change from just showering to swimming or sitting in the bathtub.

Part of the problem is that your skin and incisions are soft and weak

there.

It is usually a month or so before all the incisions are completely

healed and all the scabs all off. You should not be soaking in a bath

tub, hot tub, or swimming until then. A brief, daily shower is ok, if

the wounds are not soaked for a long time. Be sure to carefully follow

your doc's wound care orders, because incision infections - especially

of the port incision - are often very dangerous and difficult to heal.

I haven't experienced any headaches due to the tubing on my CI processors,

but I have mild to moderate throbbing pain in my right ear from time to time

which is relieved by removing my processor. I also have some tenderness

where the earhook rests above the ear.

After re-reading your post, I have a question. Are the skeleton earmolds you

use hypoallergenic? If not, that's something you might want to look into.

When I received my first pair of hearing aids, I experienced the same

symptoms as you. Once my audi switched me to hypoallergenic earmolds, I

didn't have any further problems.

I had similar problems when I wore hearing aids and the problem was the ear

molds not the tubing. What happened to me was bacteria was in my ears and of

course with the molds in it just made for a great place fo the bacteria to grow

and cause an outer ear infection. I noticed it most often when the seasons

changed (weather change).

and my ear lobe is too small for the mic lock. Prior to just receiving the

second CI, I still had the HA in the other ear. I developed a severe, dull

headache with an inflamed ear on the HA side. Turned out I was allergic to

newer tubing that prevents moisture. Now I have bilateral CIs, and in the

past month the severe, dull headache with inflamed ear has returned, leading

me to wonder if it is the tubing. Has anyone else experienced this?
