Guest guest
Has anyone been to the Cochlear Celebration? Since this is the 2nd annual, you would have had to go last year. I am just in the beginning stages of being considered for a CI. I was wondering if this event would be benefitial to me? Is it worth the money to go? From what I've read online, it's geared towards people who already have a CI and since it's put on by the Cochlear people, the information would only be about Cochlear products. My husband and I are considering going, but I thought I would see what everyone's opinion was. Thank you!!! Cherri
Guest guest
Cherri welcome to the forum. My husband and I attended the Cochlear Celebration last year and enjoyed it very much. I was implanted with the Freedom in October of 2005 and only had been activated for about three months when we went. It is definately all about Cochlear's products so if you are not interested in their implant then there is no point in going. If you are considering a Cochlear Nucleus implant then you will find a wealth of information about that implant at the Celebration. If you go to their website at: http://www.cochlearamericas.com/Celebration/2063.asp you will see a list of sessions they are offering. Beyond the sessions the interaction with other implantees was so much fun and a learning experience. You are also afforded the opportunity to talk with people from Cochlear one on one about the different options available with the Freedom. So do answer your question, I can't really answer for you. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to email me. Connie cherrisebree <Bestpumkin@...> wrote: Has anyone been to the Cochlear Celebration? Guest guest
Not all of the seminars are strictly related to Cochlear products. Some of the seminars include information regarding the benefits of auditory rehabilitation for adults, bilateral CIs, why CI users perceive music differently, etc. Left ear - Nucleus 24 Contour Advance with Freedom BTE Implanted: 12/22/04 Activated: 1/18/05 Right ear - Nucleus Freedom Implanted: 2/1/06 Activated: 3/1/06 Deafblind/Postlingual
Guest guest
Does anyone know if this event can be considered a " medical conference " . According to the IRS publication 502, pg 11: You can include in medical expenses amounts paid for admission and transportation to a medical conference if the medical conference concerns the chronic illness of yourself, a spouse or dependent. ... The URL is: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p502.pdf Thanks. > > Has anyone been to the Cochlear Celebration? Since this is the 2nd > annual, you would have had to go last year.
