Guest guest
Andreya, Hi. I am not the person you were referring to who was knowledgeable about Tricare, but I am an Air Force wife, and my son is dealing with plagio as we speak. Tricare will not and does not cover the helmets. The ONLY reason my son is getting a helmet is because we happen to live by an army hospital who is just doing the helmets regardless of Tricare coverage. The hospital pretty much doesn't even go through Tricare with regard to the helmet therapy. This is just something they are doing on their own. Don't ask me how they pay for this, because I don't know, but basically we were told that we are lucky we happen to live by Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, because if we were stationed anywhere else in the states, or overseas, for that matter, we would not be able to get a helmet without forking out thousands of dollars. And since Tricare is military, there is no way to appeal the government, just like you cannot sue a military hospital also. Tell this gentleman that if he can convince his branch of the military that this is truly needed for his child, perhaps they can give him orders to Ft. , Washington, so that he can go to Madigan Army Medical Center. I don't know if he's in the Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, or what, but this hospital is accessed by all branches of the service. This hospital is one of the most advanced hospitals for the military in the states and there have been several people stationed in this area if they or their families are dealing with something that needs advanced technology. But I know for a fact that Tricare is pretty screwed up and I am so glad we will not have to deal with them after October 27 when my husband gets out and we can get "real" insurance, not that it will be any easier. Hope this helps, and please write if you have anymore questions. Kellie, mom of , 9 months
Guest guest
Kellie, Thanks for your response! I will pass this information on. I know how hard it is to find help with Plagio when you are dealing with the military! Best of luck with your sons treatment. Andreya > Andreya, > > Hi. Plagiocephaly Sent: Tuesday, October 16, 2001 3:19 PM Subject: Need help from Kendra or some of the other "older" members! Hi, I haven't been to the boards much in the last few months. My dd graduated in December and we have since moved back to the states and are finally getting settled. That has nothing to do with what I need though! I have received a message from a gentleman who is stationed in Japan. He is just beginning to research Plagio and I told him I would help him anyway I could. I was hoping someone would remember a gentleman who was in the military and was dealing with Tricare. I remember him in particular because he seemed to know who to talk to in order to get make some headway with Tricare. Even if no one recalls who he is, maybe you know of someone else who has had some luck in this area? I tried going back through the archives but there are just waaaayyyy too many posts! Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Andreya BenderTaryn (grad 12/00)P.S. I did mention the group to this gentleman and hopefully I can get him to become a member! For more plagio info
