Looks at Jackie. Thinks. Wonders what measures I should take. Thinks

again. Wonders if it really matters. Thinks, it was a CI moment after all.

Also thinks everyone needed to hear something new for a change of pace.

Hey Jackie!

So very glad you passed the stone and even happier, for you, that

Thanks, everyone, for your support, and to , for not booting me off the

forum for telling obscene stories! LOL I do feel so much better now,

though, on doctor's orders I must remain vigilent for another week, just in

case!

:::::::rolling eyes:::::I think the worst is over, though. Lucky I decided not

to describe the procedure used if the stone doesn't come out on it's own! LOL

Carol and that is from your new ear!!! Yippeee!!! I am one who is grinning from

CI to CI. No Pun intended. Now have a Super CI day... Snoopy.

CI Moment

I am far from a newbie to Cochlear implants having received my first one in in

my left ear in 2001 and being able to hear so well with the one. But there is

something special about being bilateral. I became bilateral in April of this

year.

Tony Vitale and I run a CI Support Group here in South Florida. We had a

wonderfully informative meeting this past Sunday.

On Monday, I left Boca Raton to go to my daughter's home to babysit her girls

(ages 6 & 8) for the week. As I am driving along, I heard a buzzing sound coming

from the empty passenger's seat. As I turned to see what it was, I realized that

it was my cell phone. I had forgotten to take it off vibe and put it on ringer

after the meeting and a call was coming in.

Can you imagine a deaf person being able to HEAR the vibration of a cell

phone? I could understand it if it was on a hard table but on a car seat? That

was a CI moment if ever there was one. I am so grateful for being able to become

bilateral and would recommend it to anyone who may be considering it.

Happy Hearing!

Oh gee Carol how wonderful. I was so glad to read your post because it makes me

even more convinced that bilaterals will make a difference.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know about my CI experience today. A little

background first-- My husband and I took square dance lessons before having

my CI. I would plug my FM system into the caller's equipment, but still

depended a good bit on visual cues. We stopped going shortly after

completing the course because my husband had pacemaker surgery-- then tried

to go back a little last summer, but I seemed to be having even more trouble

hearing, and with the time missed we were not keeping up with the rest of

the people. Then, I had my CI surgery in September.

We had a chance to go to a 2-day lesson course that was most of the day

today and will also be next Saturday. I was a little skeptical of whether I

would be able to hear OK, but decided to give it a try. The caller today was

one that I was not familiar with. I wore my hearing aid along with my CI

during the first tip and was having some trouble hearing, but was getting

by. Then I tried turning off the hearing aid, and the caller's voice came in

much clearer. Needless to say, I've decided to ditch the hearing aid for

good. Not only was it not giving me benefit, but it was interfering with the

clear sound of my CI.

I had a great time today trying to re-learn these calls that I had not

learned all that well to start with. I could hear better than I ever could

with my old hearing aids and FM. I was also able to converse with the people

during the breaks and lunch. I'm really looking forward to getting up to

speed on the square dancing and no longer having to bother with the FM

system.
