Guest guest
HAS ANYONE HAD TO REPLACE THEIR COCHLEAR FREEDOM PROCESSOR CONTROLLER. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH (I BOUGHT A BACK UP PROCESSOR). NOW THE REPLACEMENTS DON'T LET ME CHANGE THE VOLUME OR SENSITIVITY? M.
Guest guest
M, Several people have had to return their Freedoms due to cracks and other problems but Cochlear is very good about taking care of their customers. My compartment with the LED screen just malfunctioned last week and I have to get a new one but luckily I have my extra processor. If you cannot change your volume or sensitivity, your audiologist probably " Locked " them. Or you may have locked them yourself. To unlock it, hold down the on/off button and then press the bottom toggle switch on the left side one time. You should see a -L or +L. The -L means it is unlocked and the +L means it is locked. Let me know if that works. Good luck! Guest guest
I had to replace my Freedom controller as the first one cracked. The replacement was no different in function than the original one. I only have a volume control, and that works fine. MCHUDACOFF@... wrote: HAS ANYONE HAD TO REPLACE THEIR COCHLEAR FREEDOM PROCESSOR CONTROLLER. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH (I BOUGHT A BACK UP PROCESSOR). Guest guest
M, I had to replace my first 2 controllers because the first one did not move consistently with the beeps and the second one only showed partial letters and numbers to those who could see, and I've have had no problems for the past 10 months. Guest guest
Yes, I had to replace the controler to one of my Freedom processors. I also had to replace my 3G processor. Cochlear was very good about replacements for these units. Their customer service is second to none. Guest guest
I was hooked up on Sept. 16, 2005, so I haven't had my CI quite a year yet, but I am on my second Freedom controller. I had the first one 4 or 5 months when the display disappeared entirely. Nothing but a blank screen, even though the audio was fine. I could change programs and still knew which program I was on because of the beeps but I never could tell what sensitivity or volume I was on (I was still fiddling with both a lot back in those days; I hardly touch them now). Just this week an odd thing happened. My audio just abruptly disappeared completely with no warning beeps indicating that the battery was low or dead. Scared me to death. I did change the batteries, though, and all was normal again. I'm just wondering if it will do that again when this set of batteries goes. Has this ever happened to anybody--loss of power without any warning beeps? I don't know whether to attribute this to the controller or not. in Louisville
Guest guest
HI I AM ON MY THIRD PROCESSOR, YUP THATS RIGHT I HAD THIS PROBLEM ON ALL THREE BUT THIS LAST TIME IT WAS TURNING OFF ALOT AND SO SCARY. I LOST MY SCREEN TO SEE WHAT PROGRAM AND VOLUME ALSO AND IF I USED THE TELE SWITCH IT WOULD SHUT OFF AND A VERY LONG WAIT FOR IT TO TURN BACK ON. BUT THEY SENT ME A NEW ONE RIGHT AWAY THANK GOD. HOPE THEY FIND THE PROBLEM WITH THIS SOON. DOES ANYONE HAVE INSURANCE ON THIS FREEDOM OR TRIED GETTING IT? IT WILL BE A YEAR ON THIS FREEDOM THIS JULY. Guest guest
, I know my previous BWP had a 5 year warranty. After that I started purchasing annual maintenance agreement. I suspect it is the same for the Freedom but can't say for sure.
Guest guest
I am fairly sure I have a three year warranty on the Freedom BTE. Guest guest
Hi So sorry to hear of your problems. Have you contacted Cochlear Corp? I think there is a warranty that comes with the Freedom that is coverage for a few years - then there is ESCO that is helpful in covering CI processors. Guest guest
You can list it on ebay with a medical disclaimer that its not for medical use and basically you are off the hook. there is more info on the ebay site about that but I have sold hearing aids and other medical items on ebay with no problems DJ > > I don't know if this is allowed, please let me know if it is not. > > Is there anyone interested in buying a Freedom Processor for half > price? > > Please let me know. > > >

Guest guest
Carol is correct. Cochlear contacted eBay and informed them that the item listed was a prescription item and therefore not a legitimate item to list. It was pulled asap. It was a complete (allegedly) Freedom processor kit. The seller claimed he bought it among other medical items at another auction. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Where there's a will, I want to be in it. & Dreamer Doll (Guide Dawggie) Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
