Hi ,

Lose weight, find adaptive devices. Isn't life strange? Glad that

all your goodies were found.

I asked my audi about maxima, since I was watching sound coming

through while being mapped. Seems a maxima of 8 will activate 8 channels

with each sweep of the electrode. But if you are using ACE (as I believe

you are) it will be 8 DIFFERENT electrodes with each sweep of sound. The

best 8 of 22 to process each sound with each sweep of the map. With

SPEAK, it's the best 8 of 20 electrodes. With CIS (and its variants) it

would be the SAME 8 each time. CIS being a fixed rate program. So, 8 is

your maxima. Mine as well. But it was way cool to see the different

electodes being fired when the audiologist and I were speaking. Cool to

have so many variations of 8 to play with.

Looks like Santa found you early this year. Did he leave anything

else for you? Always pays to check around. I hang 5 stockings by my

chimney, because Santa is a busy man, and may fill them all! Hope

springs eternal.

I also asked about my maxima setting. My maxima on both processors

is set to 8. When I asked about the effect of changing to a higher

maxima, I

was told that (in some cases) can cause distortion. Since I'm hearing

quite

well with my current maps, I decided not to change anything. Perhaps I

will

experiment with increasing maxima at a later time.
