Re: headache from too much sound

Jerome,

After my first CI was activated, I experienced headaches due to the amount

of sound I was hearing with my CI compared to HAs. However, over time the

headaches disappeared and are something I no longer experience (although I

do have migraine headaches from time to time, but they are strictly due to

my migraine history and not my CIs).

Hello Jerome, I was a hearing aid wearer for nearly 30 years. In the

latter years, I always had aids that had a volume control on them. My

problem was though, too little useful sound, rather than too much

noise. I never experienced headaches, but I did used to avoid places

where I knew it could be noisy and I wouldnt be able to hear

conversation. I havent experienced any headaches with the C.I. either

and I have volume and sensitivity controls on them too. I also have

specialised programmes more suited to whatever situation I find myself

in.

Hello Jerome,

My name is Gilad and I am a relatively new CI user. Before the operation I

used hearing aids in both ears. I had never had any problems with them and

headaches. Indeed, noise is something that bothers anyone, even hearing people.

I often tried to avoid noisy environments, but when I had to deal with them I

did not have headaches because of that. I don't have headaches because of the CI

either, though it's hard to use a CI when one has a headache. A lot of my

friends always laugh that they wish they could take their ears off the way I do

every night or if they have a really bad headache. We have a great advantage as

well!

I hope this helps. I wish you and everyone merry christmas and all the best

for the new year 2007.

Gilad

Hi Gilad,

I don't have headache most of the time with hearing aids, only when I'm

exposed to lots lots of noise. Prior becoming severe-to-profound, I don't

have this problem.

Jerome
