Guest guest
Hi Ted, I have both of my old hearing aids programmed where I can use them in my unimplanted ear. However, my audiologist and doctor do not want me to wear a hearing aid-- at least for now. My audiologist told me I could try the hearing aid again around Christmas time, but she still doesn't want me to wear it all the time. I really don't need the hearing aid, and certainly don't need all of my old FM equipment any more. The FM boot that needed repair right before my CI surgery was very frustrating. Using the booted FM and TelCom (hearing with two ears) was the way I was managing (struggling) on the phone pre-CI. With the CI, I can hear very well on the phone with the t-coil. I dont whether its any help, but when I had my left ear implanted, I had that hearing aid which now wasnt any good for the left ear, programmed for my right ear. So I now have two right ear hearing aids and thus, a spare. Guest guest
Would a Cochlear brand adapter (for Sprint bodyworn) work on an AB device? Because I have one my son has never used and probably won't need. If anyone does need it, I can send it (but must find it first!) Guest guest
I did find it and it looks like this: http://store.cochlearproducts.com/z43085.html And here is how you are supposed to plug it in: http://www.cochlear.com/Support/641.asp (It has a 3.5 mm plug for the speech processor end.) Anyone who wants it can have it! It has never been used. Lydia > > Would a Cochlear brand adapter (for Sprint bodyworn) work on an AB > device? Guest guest
Hi , Your company is required by law to provide " reasonable accommodations " If the amplified phone doesn't work for you then it is NOT a reasonable accommodation. It's like if you need a computer screen and they buy you a TV instead. It's NOT what you need, nor what you asked for. So before you assume that they are only required to provide an amplified phone, which you have already said doesn't work, ASK someone in human resources if they can buy what you do need. I would think Radio Shack would not carry something that would work with specialty device like a cochlear implant, no matter who makes it. Good luck, The Original I was hoping that the company would purchase it under the disability laws but I have been told that they only need to provide a phone with an amplifier, which they have but does not do the job as well as the adapter... Many people and words are very hard to understand using just the amplified phone..
Guest guest
, Amen, and I said nearly the same thing. , you are not asking for the moon, you are asking for what you need to do your job. Guest guest
Hi , Apart for the contribution to brain fog caused by hypothyroidism, there's probably also one due to low methylation via folic acid and low vit B12. Serum folate that comes back low in the range or just above what they call the lower cut-off, may indeed be a cause of poor memory. Mine was short-term memory though I have no obvious hypothyoidism (yet). I also discovered that my intellectual functioning had started to deteriorate ~ very difficult to detect in a subjective way, since you experience what your brain can do in such a personal manner and it doesn't occur to you that the intellectual capability is diminishing slowly, by the month. Once I began taking 5mg/day of folate, my short-term memory came back ~ about 6-8 weeks to notice subtle changes. After about 3-4 months, it was certainly better and then I also noticed that I could function in the intellectual department in a subtly better manner than had been happening previously. Getting lost easily, feeling detached, and not being quite 'all there' are worrying when you experience them, but they all move back in 'synch' after about 4-6months (maybe longer) depending on other factors such as extent of hypothyroidism and its successful treatment. Hope things can be made better as soon as possible; you may need a prescription to get the 5mg folate tabs (since you need to monitor vit B12 at the same time). If you only go by the 'usual' dose of folate (400 mcg/day) you may not get anywhere. The other thing about vit B12 is that it may serve as a source for cobalt in other biochemical reactions, where cobalt is the optimum trace element to activate particular enzymes. As usual, you may have to fight your way past the 'lab test says everything is normal' ~ tell 'em you're not normal either! so which version of 'normality' are they going to work with? best wishes Bob > > Sorry its been a while since I posted but have been awaiting > results, follow up, referral in fact anything!!!
