Guest guest
Sorry this post should be a " new topic " but, I'll be whipped if I can figure out how in blazes to do that. It doesn't like my answer to my question for my password for whatever reason. Well....we all have those days I guess huh? MY QUESTION: I received my Freedom today (will send my 3G as trade-in). I'm wondering if anyone else has traded in the 3G and if they can tell me what exactly I need to send back to Cochlear. Their advice is send everything that came with it or be charged for whatever you don't send. Since I got the Body Worn Processor at the same time as the BTE, I have no clue what they expect back with the BTE. Anyone know? Thanks, Evon
Guest guest
For those of you who adjust sensitivity and/or volume, do you prefer to make adjustments according to the environment you are in or do you like to leave the settings as they are (and switch from program to program instead)? Now that I'm able to control volume and sensitivity, I'm eager to see how much of a difference this makes in my ability to hear in noisy environments. Prior to today I was able to function well using ADRO, but I'm curious to find out how much more I can hear by having the ability to adjust sensitivity. Now that I'm using the same processor for each ear, I feel more comfortable about changing settings whereas before my former audi and I thought it would be best that I change from program to program for ease of use. Guest guest
Hi Glad you had a good audi visit today. As we move forwards with our Freedoms, we become aware of the possibilities we have in doing our own kind of tweaking. That is, with Volume and Sensitivity levels. I talk on my cell phone daily. One frustration I was having was using my phone while driving (I know, tsk, tsk, bad idea) The road noise was overwhelming. My solution was to lower the sensitivity to 3 or 4, suggested by a former audi. It worked out perfect for me, and at my last appointment, my audi locked my S at 3 with my V at 9. What a timesaver! (Smart guy that I happen to know is a lurker here:) Now I just go to that program and problem is solved. I also use this " custom " program for listening to my radio while driving. Now though, I've got the order of my programs wrong, LOL. Going back to the clinic next Monday Am looking forward to it...I told my audi I want 8 different programs (we have two processors, right!) I just wish he'd " listen " when I say I want Beethoven on one of them!!!!!!!!!!! LOL By the way, (OT) I picked up some peppermint patty coffee creamer. It's great! Freedom 9/21/05 HOOKED!! Guest guest
Hi , As you know, I've only been activated since September 27 and have only had the Smartsound options since November 17, so I'm still a newbie. I have always had the ability to adjust both sensitivity and volume. I think it is easiest to change from program to program, but would always want the ability to adjust both the sensitivity and volume in each program. My 4 slots are P1 open, P2 ADRO, P3 Beam and P4 Whisper. I generally find that I need the volume at a much higher level in the Beam program. I don't have and haven't tried auto sensitivity, but I'm sure the same would apply to it. Generally speaking, if I'm in a noisy environment and need to turn down the sensitivity, I will need to raise the volume. I might also add that I did not like the default setting for the Beam program, so I changed it to what I like and saved it. If you turn the processor off and then back on, it will save your preferred volume and sensitivity settings in each of the respective programs. Before you do this, be sure to cycle back to your preferred every day program, as that one will be the one that comes on when you turn your processor on each morning. Guest guest
I have a tendency to change from program to program more than adjusting the sensitivity or volume. I use ADRO for my every day listening program and since it acts like a equalizer I don't have a need to change much. I do use autosensitivity when in noisy environments. The most amazing thing with autosensitivity was when I used it at a college football game and it lessened the crowd noise but the announcer sounded like he was talking in my ear. I have found that adjusting the sensitivity is better than adjusting the volume. Guest guest
, I am more inclined to switch between programs than changing sensitivity and/or volume. I fluctuate between Auto and ADRO, depending on which sounds clearer at the time. I love the Beam in noisy settings, and the Whisper is helpful for hearing a speaker in quiet places. I slowly increase the volume as the environment becomes quieter.
Guest guest
, Like Connie, I'm similar in using ADRO for everyday use and autosensitivity for the noisy environments. I do use whisper for the " hot air conventions " of life. On the other hand, once I get my volume and sensitivity levels set, after a mapping session, I leave 'em alone (makes it a lot easier). Guest guest
, If I need more or less volume, I just adjust my main program. However, I usually change programs unless what I am looking for is slight. If I am in a very noisy environment, I use autosensitivity and for tv or to hear a speaker, I use whisper. Within these programs we also have the advantage of lowering or raising the volume and/or sensitivity. I like being able to control how much or how little I hear rather than just having to use programmed settings. Hope this helps. Happy Hearing! Guest guest
, Since you have autosensitivity, ADRO, Whisper and BEAM, I assume you don't have an open program on your processors? Since I'm still in the experimental stages with my second CI, I chose to have two open programs on both processors (one being slightly louder than the other) in case I needed extra volume. I'm also using ADRO and BEAM. I plan to experiment a little more with BEAM to decide if I want to keep it or replace it with Whisper (which I *love* for TV and radio listening!).
