Guest guest
Hi Moses, Find the source of the radio noise, and turn it off. If it's a radio in the house that someone has on and isn't even aware of, ask your wife if she can locate it. It might be background noise from the TV, or perhaps your computer has music on it. Is it music you are hearing? I've never heard of a CI picking up noises that weren't there, so are you sure it's a radio station you are hearing? Is it static sounding, because that could be from a dimmer switch controlling lights, your computer screen, your refrigerator generator, or fluorescent lights. All of them will give you static sounds IF YOU ARE ON THE TELECOIL setting. I believe you have the body worn processor, so that doesn't have a telecoil setting built in. Try lowering your sensitivity. One switch is for sensitivity and one is for volume, Sensitivity goes up around 14 I think, and volume stops at 9. So try lowering sensitivity on your program. Aren't you amazed to be complaining about hearing things? Who'd a thunk? Nucleus Volunteer Subject: Re: [ } RADIO STATION My first day, after hookup, is totally unbelievable. ALL NEW SOUNDS!!!!!! Plus loud music from a radio station , which I do not want. So, how do I get rid of it?? Guest guest
Hi Moses! I am soooo glad you are enjoying your CI. Your happiness shines right through your posts. I had the same experience as you did regarding the magnet falling off and not being able to find the exact spot to connect it on my head. That happened right after my hook up appointment. As my sister successfully rushed me across a 5 lane busy Philly street to beat the green light. My coat collar snagged my BWP cord which knocked my headpiece off my head. After a lot of trying, we could not find the spot that connected my headpiece to my head. My head was still swollen and numb so that made it hard for me to tell where it was. She dreaded dragging me back across the street again and up to the 3rd floor sooooo we decided to get in the car and drive to my ENT's suburban office and if we didn't get it attached by the time we got there, we would stop. We had to stop. My ENT was not on duty that day and the pediactric ENT and Audie didn't deal with cochlear implants so when they couldn't find my spot either, they phoned my audie and he told them how to find my spot. Now, it's hard to believe we ever had troubles finding the spot that day! Keep your CI Moments coming! Continued success to you, Moses! Patti Surgery Day 11/25/02 (What A Day!) Guest guest
Moses, It's not unususal for you to find P1 and P2 usless now and really good that you have moved on to P3. Since you are doing so well after the 2 hour mapping which was plenty of time, I doubt you needed it to be any longer. Moving on to P3 means you are adjusting well and your mapping tomorrow will probably give you even more sound. It's great that you can enjoy Oklahoma. Remember when you wondered if this was the right thing to do? I'm very happy for you. Don't forget to tell us all about your mapping tomorrow. Guest guest
This afternoon I had the second mapping, and I did very well in the tests done by the audie using paper to cover her mouth. She gave me some cables to connect to TV, telephone, etc. Now I have 4 programs, including one for telephone. Yesterday I watched the broadway version of OKLAHOMA! on dvd, next, soon I'll probably see either CHICAGO or FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, even oldie SHOWBOAT with PAUL ROBSON.
