Hey, Ravi,

Your time has finally come! Too bad you and Stan can't be roommates.

You'd get to see us all drive up to the hospital! LOL

I wish for you, my Highland Park friend, all the very best. We'll all

be waiting to hear of your experience, especially since yours will be a bit

different in that you are getting the split array. It will be so interesting to

see how, or if, that changes mapping strategies. Remember to take it easy

afterwards, even if you're feeling better in a few days.

Just for the record....I LOST a pound during my little vacation in New

York... Despite candy bars, hot chocolates, and a rack of Lamb! I guess the

walking in the wind wittled it away! LOL Maybe I should do it again!

But you're right, I'd need some special architect to get me ready for

Thursday! LOL

Yee HAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! It's finally going to happen! I am so happy for you,

it has indeed been quite a long journey for you. Are you still with Dr.

Kohan at Beth Israel?

My journey was complex as it made me take it in confidence with the

invaluable knowledge gained in this forum. I had to take several decisions

that were all contrary to what I had wanted. My surgeon was the final say in

all my decisions. He chose to implant the worst ear (left) as my right ear

has complications from facial nerve damage and was the best ear for implant.

Yes, it will be Dr Darius Kohan who will implant me next friday at Beth Israel

Medical Center. He is such a wonderful surgeon and understands my complications

very well.

Thanks so much for the tremendous support in my long journey for a CI. I

still keep my fingers and toes crossed, so that I successfully accomplish the

first step towards this journey.

Yes, I will be at the Big Apple next Friday, but will not freakout.....LOL!!

Hi Ravi!

I'm so glad the surgery is now behind you. Be sure to rest and pace

yourself for the next week or so and let yourself be spoiled by others. Best

wishes for a smooth recovery! Hook up day is next and what a time that will

be!

Keep us posted on how it's going for you!

Hi, Ravi,

I'm glad you are feeling a bit better today.

I am so concerned about you going into NY on Monday when a Nor'Easter is

being forcasted. Yours will be long noted as the snowiest implant! Here is

an idea. Perhaps you can e-mail your doctor and ask if you can unwrap the

bandage yourself or have your local doctor do it. That trip to NY in the middle

of a Nor'Easter could be bad, not to mention that even the trains may not be

able to pass. Some doctors even remove the bandage the very next day, so I

can't imagine it would be that critical to take what could be a dangerous trip

just to remove the bandage. Your local doctor may even be able to remove your

stitches or staples if that is what you have. Then you can coordinate your

hook-up date with a visit to your surgeon as well, just to touch base. Your

local doctor can send reports of how your incision is healing. Just food for

thought. I know several of the forum people have had their local doctors remove

stitches, etc. to avoid a long trip to their implant surgeon. Perhaps they

will weigh in.

Stay rested, and continue to let your family pamper you! And stay off

the ponds in son and 's Parks where the ice is probably not thick

enough to ice skate anyway! LOL Charley Brown for dinner would be nice,

though! Order soup and salad bar!

I was told to remove the bandage myself the second day, and I had dissolving

sutures, so no need to go back for any on this.
