Guest guest
The shorter audio cable is very pricey. If I recall correctly, it is $130, or maybe more.

Guest guest
Deb and it is my understanding that when people upgrade to the Freedom that they do not receive an protable audio cable (the short one) and a tv audio cable but that they only receive the TV cable which can be used also with portable devices. I believe the thought was that one cable would do the job for all devices. Thanks!!! Guest guest
Deb, Did you receive the shorter cable as part of your Freedom welcome kit? All I received was the TV Hi-Fi cable. I apologize for not being clear with my question. Is there a shorter audio cable available for the Freedom? (I'm looking for a shorter audi cable to use with my Comtek FM system and Freedom processors.) Guest guest
Connie, I was implanted with the Freedom this February and received two Freedom processors. However, I did not receive a shorter audio cable as part of my welcome kit. Guest guest
, You were implanted with the Freedom in your right ear, so you should have gotten the shorter audio cable for it. My welcome kit had both the TV Hi-Fi cable and the shorter audio cable for use with battery powered devices. Guest guest
Lynn, Apparently there are a number of things I didn't receive in my welcome kit. (i.e. extra microphone covers, shorter audio cable, extra batteries). I don't fault Cochlear or my audi for this. As some of you may remember, I was hospitalized before and after my second CI activation. To make things easier, my audi only gave me the accessories she thought I would need while in the hospital (two packages of batteries and the TV Hi-Fi cable). Unfortunately, I never asked her about the accessories I was missing -- although I did mention this to my current audi who is in the process of ordering what I don't have. It looks like I will have to ask her to order a short audi cable in addition to the other accessories I didn't receive. Guest guest
, I was implanted with the Freedom in February, so I should have received more accessories than the TV Hi-Fi cable, plastic battery holder and Cochlear tote bag. The short audio cable *is* expensive. I checked Cochlear's website tonight and was shocked at the price. Hopefully my audi can order one for me for free (since I didn't receive one in the first place). Guest guest
, You need to make a list of all the things you did not receive with your Freedom. It may be lost at your audiologist's office or the hospital. Some of my things got misplaced at the hospital, and others were backordered, but they found them and gave them to me at my 2nd mapping. In any event, you should have received a number of things with your Freedom kit. In addition to the audio cable and the TV Hi-Fi cable, there is a lapel mic, a set of monitor headphones for someone else to listen to your processor, extra microphone protectors, ear hooks of assorted sizes, extra coil, Dry & Store unit, and your manuals. I also received the rechargeable kit, 2 boxes of implant plus batteries and 2 battery cages. Since you were implanted prior to the rechargeables, you should have gotten a lot more boxes of batteries. Maybe you can persuade them to *give* you the rechargeable kit if you didn't receive your due amount of batteries. Guest guest
Hi Deb, At the time of my activation I was in the hospital. For that reason my audi only gave me the accessories she thought I would need at the time. Even when I received my welcome kit a few weeks later (i.e. upon my release from the hospital), I found that it did not contain the accessories I mentioned. I should have said something to my audi about this sooner, but I didn't know what accessories should have been included. Guest guest
Lynn, Based on your post, it looks like I can add several more items to my list. Since my welcome kit was kept at my CI center until my release from the hospital, perhaps they have my missing accessories. I'll have to discuss that with my audi. Regardless, I plan to write a list with all of the items I'm missing. Asking Cochlear for a battery charger in place of the accessories is a good idea, but I'd rather have the accessories I'm missing. Guest guest
, Check e bay!! Maybe someone is selling your missing pieces! LOL. This is a JOKE, folks. But seriously, there should be a list of components that should have been included in the welcome kit, and if they are not there, then they need to be accounted for. Guest guest
The TV/HI cables and the Personal Audio Cables are electrically the same, except the former includes surge protection circuitry for use with line-powered devices and a volume control. The cables for the Freedom and the 3G are not interchangeable. For the 3G, in addition to either the TV/Hi-Fi or Personal Audio Cables, an accessory adapter is required as well. Once you are set up with the proper cables from Cochlear for each processor, then an off-the-shelf splitter from RS will allow bilateral mono from the Comtek ALD.
