Guest guest
Isn't that a very special moment? I know so many people take for granted the sound of a bird in the trees but it's very meaningful to someone who has not heard it. Very nice CI Moment. Congratulations! Alice Then I looked up -- and espied a cardinal, singing at the top of a tree. What a wonderful way to start a Monday morning. Never heard bird calls before in my entire life till today. Can't wait till all the snow melts in the spring! Chris ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Guest guest
Congratulations! I've heard birds sing before (over 20 years ago), but for you and others who have never heard this sound, it makes this CI moment extra special. It's a beautiful sound, isn't it? I can still remember the first time I heard a bird sing with my CI...it brought tears to my eyes. Keep those CI moments coming! Guest guest
Wonderful CI moment, Chris. Sometimes I wonder what people think when they see us searching about us and there appears to be nothing to them to cause us to react as such. Guest guest
That's great Chris! I'm jealous - I want to hear the birds. I live in the city so there aren't many around. I'll have to start stalking pigeons I guess! When I go home for Easter, I'll have to sit in the yard near my mother's birdfeeder. Guest guest
, That's funny about people wondering what we are looking around for. I remember when I was first activated, I was sitting at my desk in the office and I heard BANG. BANG. BANG. Curiosity got the best of me, so I meandered out to see whether someone was shooting a gun or preparing many three-ring binders. It was the electric stapler above the copy machine! Either I had never heard it or it was so faint, it didn't make an impression on me. Janet > Wonderful CI moment, Chris. Guest guest
What a wonderful CI Moment, Chris! I heard my first birds tweeting the very first spring after my hook up and I am still very much in awe every time I hear birds tweeting. You're in for some serious tweeting when all the snow has melted and spring has arrived and the birds are out and about. Enjoy! Continued success to you! Patti Surgery Day 11/25/02 (What A Day!) Hi guys, This morning when I dropped off a newspaper that I pass on to a friend -- when I stepped onto the sidewalk from my car to go to his front door, I heard this " chirp, chirp, chirp " . I looked around, perplexed. Nothing was moving. Then I dropped the paper inside the front storm door. I heard the noise again! Looked around to find nothing moving. I was about to decide that it was the beep-beep of the car warning me that I had left the keys inside -- but I couldn't believe that I could hear this *new* noise 40 feet away. Heard it again! Nothing around me. Then I looked up -- and espied a cardinal, singing at the top of a tree. What a wonderful way to start a Monday morning. Never heard bird calls before in my entire life till today. Can't wait till all the snow melts in the spring! activated 12/8, prelingually profoundly deaf, HAs 40+years Rochester, NY How exciting to hear such a sound for the first time in your life! And, I live in a town (not a real big one), but occasionally I'll hear a Crow (you can't miss THEIR cawing!), and I know when I am up very early in the morning (like 5:30), in the spring and summer, I will hear all the different birds giving the town their wake up calls. It's absolutely fabulous . If you live near a brook or river, try going there in the spring, and just sitting and listening to that, too. You'll be amazed at the different sounds of the water hitting the different rocks, etc. If you have the 3G, try putting it on Whisper setting. The sounds are absolutely enthralling. The first time I did that, my daughter had to almost drag me away from the little brook behind our Dairy Queen! Oh gosh, I am sooooo ready for spring! Guest guest
Today I participated in a group presentation for one of my social work classes. It was such a great feeling being able to hear comments and questions from my professor and other students! At first I was a little concerned about my ability to hear questions from the back of the room, but I heard everything clearly! Prior to my CIs, I used to HATE group work, but I really enjoyed working on this project and was a little said to see it come to an end. It was so much fun working with everyone in my group. I even made friends in the process! Next semester I will be taking another social work course which requires oral presentations and group work. I never thought I'd ever say this, but I can't wait!
