Guest guest
Follow up to this story; That " alarm " went off again tonight and it wasnt raining, so I went outside and walked around to see where it was. I couldnt work out where the noise was coming from, but it sounded like it was from my place or the one next door. I went and fetched someone to tell me where it was coming from and they told me it was either a cricket or a frog, in one of the bushes by the downstairs window :-) Ted F. > > I had my first " weird " C.I. moment last night. Guest guest
Do you have Cicadas in your area Ted? I could imagine that they would sound like an alarm. Guest guest
Kent, Yes that is the one. Ita a great mic for situatons like yours. I dont make extensive use of it any more, mainly in really dark restaurants when they get very noisy. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Why is it, when a door is open it's ajar, but when a jar is open, it's not a door? & Dreamer Doll (Guide Dawggie) Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/

Guest guest
Haha. NOT fun at the time. I couldnt work out why all the other neighbours weren't out looking for it :-) Ted F. > > *LOL* WOW, that must have been a huge cricket or frog to be sounding > like a car alarm! Guest guest
I'm not sure if I have the directional mic function turned on yet. I have the beam setting on Pr3, is that any good for cricket tracking :-) Ted F. > > Ted, > LOL That is a good time to use the external mic because wiht its > directional ability, you can walk around and aim it til you lock in > on a sound. Guest guest
Ted, No I am talking about the external mic, its on a long cable. Maybe you dont ahve it or its not part of the Freedom package. Very handy tho when you dont want to put your ear to the ground in search of noisy critters. LOL By the way, yes, tell your audie whatever you think is important. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Ever stop to think . . . and forget to start again? & Dreamer Doll (Guide Dawggie) Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
Guest guest
Ahhh, thanks. That was described to me as a lapel mic. It comes with the Nucleus Freedom body worn package. The body worn also comes with rechargeable batteries and a charger, which answers something that someone mentioned in another post. Jane (my audi) was giving them to me last Thursday but we were running a bit late, so I asked her to hang onto them until she has more time to explain what I need to know. I will get them tomorrow I dont know whether the cricket/frog thing is important, it just scared the sh*t out of me at the time :-) Ted F. > > Ted, > No I am talking about the external mic, its on a long cable. > Maybe you dont ahve it or its not part of the Freedom package. Guest guest
I actually heard some Cicadas while hanging out some washing not so long ago - maybe 3 weeks ago? I was really surprised as it was late for them to make a noise. Sydney is cooler than Brisbane too so you might still have some around. It brought a smile to me because I love that sound. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Ted F. Sent: Tuesday, 2 May 2006 8:25 AM Subject: Re: Is it Usual? We do have cicada's, . Guest guest
Ted, Yeah the lapel mic is the " official " name. But like most things, there are more names just to confuse us all. LOL Its not a bad thing to be scared of certain noises. I've been activated for almost 6 years and it happens now and then. It all depends on the circumstances. Its better to be scared which forces you to investigate. Never know what is going on. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* " I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
