Phyllis,

Call them. It appears that the waiting period is 2 years which I don't remember

being the case when I qualified. but here it is in writing but I think you still

need to apply now to at least get on their roles if you were once employed and

paid into social security.

As far as I remember, it is age related. Medicare covers people 55 or over. I

still think you should qualify for Medicaid in your state if your total income

for a month is $1300 as I don't think that income puts you over the limit for

Medicaid but I am not an expert on that. Sounds like you need to either talk to

them more on the phone or go to the office if possible. You should go to the

local office of Social Security too. Your caseworker should know these answers

though.

Phyllis - If I were you, I think I would contact the people at this office to

see if they can guide you a little:

That is the department of deaf and hard of hearing services and they may be able

to give you the right steps to take for this.

The bottom line is don't give up and ask your caseworker to help you.

I am going to see what I can do about all of this because I have got to have

Medicare and some kind of supplement insurance. I have so much medication that

I have to take and the trips back and forth to get the ci's programmed.

I am a nervous wreck right now.

I am definitely checking this out just as soon as I find out for positive what I

am going to make and all that. I should know in a week or so. Hopefully!!! I

do have enough nerve pills but I am going to have to ask the doctor for samples

of the Zoloft and high blood pressure medication and the cholesterol etc. He is

pretty darn good about helping me out like that.
