hi christa

All I was trying to say, that it does EFT no good

> to advertise it

> as " fast miracle " cure, because for most people its

> not.

my feeling is that you're still seeing this whole

thing through dark glasses, because you yourself are

making slow progress, so your picture of how EFT works

and what is realistic is much darker than reality.

Because the truth is, a good EFT practitioner will get

dramatic results in almost every session, and

cessation of the presenting problem most of the time,

because the vast majority of the problems the average

practitioner sees are easily solvable problems. and

that's a miracle!

and even with the more complex problems, it is still

realistic to expect a major change in every session,

so the client should go out the door feeling

substantially better, much more optimistic, and with

an emotional load gone from their shoulders, even at

the end of session one of a complex issue. and that's

a miracle too.

so even if I get someone who is very overweight, such

that one session will probably not handle all their

issues, and in any case they'll need followup over

time, they will still feel remarkably better at the

end of session one.

so it really is, to the client, no matter what the

kind of case, a " miracle " process. and that's

reality.

in your personal situation, it sounds to me like you

have a feeling like you're swimming upstream against a

strong current, and it's slow going, and you're

wondering if you're even making progress. if that's

the case, then it's likely you would get much faster

results working with an EFT practitioner, as they can

help you cut through the confusion and get things

moviong towards a feeling of relief.

I'll give you an example - I had a woman with an

allergy who was a member of my weekly adult eudcation

group. she was experienced with EFT, and as a

healthcare professional was attempting to do it

carefully and right. she had had an allergy attack

and been working with EFT on her own but had been

getting no result.

at our weekly meeting, we were showing Craig's

Borrowing Benefits DVDs and she tried tapping along

with this, which often gets wonderful results, but in

her case, she got no result.

After the meeting, she came to me and discussed her

situation. we sat down together, and within several

minutes working with me her allergy attack was

completely gone. It was because I had immediately

picked up on the fact that her dominant emotion was

frustration, and she hadn't thought to tap on her

frustration, and once we did that, the whole thing

collapsed.

so if you're tapping on the wrong thoughts, or are

still reversed, you can tap forever and nothing will

happen. in contrast, nail the right thought and

" poof " the problem is gone, often instantaneously.

here's an example of how a complex problem can still

yield excellent results in one session, whether you're

done or not.

PTST, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, is a rather

nasty problem that crops up after accidents and other

unexpected trauma. The person has flashbacks,

hypervigilance, and other very unpleasant phenomena

that can go on for years, and turn into phobic

responses like fear of flying, etc.

PTSD is definitely a complex problem, and very

difficult to treat with conventional psychotherapy, in

that the roots are so unconscious that conscious talk

therapy often has little effect.

You would therefore think that it would be unrealistic

to claim that EFT could be expected to get a result

easily with such a complex deeply embedded problem.

But here is what Craig has to say on his website

about how quickly PTSD can be cleaned up with EFT,

from this link:

http://www.emofree.com/ptsd.htm

" PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) responds

surprisingly well to EFT. In most cases the intense

feelings from those flashbacks and intrusive memories

either vanish or are materially reduced within a few

minutes of applying EFT. Also, repeated applications

of EFT often eliminate these feelings permanently so

that they no longer re-appear on a daily, weekly or

monthly basis. "

" For those who don't achieve instant relief, EFT is

still likely to improve or completely resolve the

problem. However, in these cases more sophisticated

approaches are usually necessary. EFT is ideally

designed to address these emotional issues and, once

properly applied, many emotional issues subside

permanently. "

Notice that even though says it can require more

than one application to finish the job, he also

asserts that one-session dramatic results are the most

common outcome by saying " In most cases the intense

feelings from those flashbacks and intrusive memories

either vanish or are materially reduced within a few

minutes of applying EFT. "

Based on my experience that is definitely a true

statement. Yet for someone not experienced with EFT,

such as a conventional psychotherapist, these claims

would seem preposterous, and in many cases, when a

caregiver from another profession first encounters

EFT, their first reaction is disbelief, and they think

these claims are bogus, because it's so difficult from

the difficult time-consuming swimming-upstream process

they are used to experiencing with this type of

client.

Yet, in reality, 's claims are right on the money,

and it is, in fact, remarkable how quickly such

intense feelings can disappear when EFT is used

properly, even if the PTSD has been a part of the

person's life for many years.

I had someone once who had PTSD (post-traumatic

stress) from a bad landing after bad weather with much

turbulence while on a commercial flight, causing him

to be hypervigilent while flying, nervous about

numerous flying situations, and since flying was

necessary for his job, not sleeping well so he was

never rested, and feeling exhausted from all of this,

so his enjoyment of life was gone.

this was a complex problem, one that we might or might

not neutralize in one session. however, in the

session, we made what felt like good progress, and

when we were done, I had him go back and remember

every aspect of the traumatic situation in that bad

flight, and it felt objective, just like " something

that happened " , that is no more emotional response.

that was a HUGE change for him, a literal micracle,

and that's usually a sign that the problem is gone or

at least substantially reduced. but as in every other

case, we had to see what happened in actual life to

find out if we'd nailed it for sure.

lots of " testing " is necessary. when I had him

visualize all sorts of future flying situations, he

could now do so without feeling fearful, again a HUGE

change for him. but again, we didn't know for sure

until he took several business trips to see how it

went.

During this process of neutralizing these fearful

memories, he felt his body relax substantially,

meaning the unconscious mind was relaxing and turning

off the previously " always on " flight-or-fight

response that was causing the disturbed sleep and

constant exhaustion. that's another good sign that

the problem is either gone or substantially reduced.

But once again, we didn't know for sure until he'd

been flying for awhile as to whether we'd neutralized

everything. so I gave him instructions to check in

later and tell me how things were going, and to call

immediately if some stimulus or memory neither of us

had thought of during the session cropped up, causing

some unresolved fearful response to reappear.

in this particular case, we nailed it in one session.

but I have had other cases in which we had to get

together a couple of more times to get all the

aspects. but in each case, the person felt

substantial relief after each session, what we tapped

on during that session stayed neutralized, and it was

just new stuff that they hadn't thought of that we had

to deal with next time around. and if you've ever

known anybody with PTSD, that's a miracle.

and that's a realistic outcome for an experienced EFT

practitioner, in virtually every session. so even in

complex cases, where more than one session is required

to get the final outcome, there should be substantial

relief, that " this is a miracle " feeling, at the end

of every session.

You attract what you focus on and if you constantly focus on negative

stuff, guess what you get?
