Hello , Phyllis, and All, I agree with ...Phyllis' explanation of anti-biotics was excellent!! As a farmer, I especially like the analogy of trying to produce a weed free lawn by spraying a broad-spectrum herbicide and expecting the lawn to grow back without any weeds. I wonder sometimes if the only thing wrong with a so called " bad " bacteria, is that it is out of balance. Perhaps these so called " bad " bacteria are actually beneficial...even essential, but only at very low percentages of the total mix of bacteria. Well, it doesn't really matter all that much to me. I gave up on modern medicine over 30 years ago, and haven't taken any medicine, or gone to any doctor, since.
