Guest guest
These were the ones I meant to post, but ran out of time. Hey, I gotta life also, ya know! ~grady:) The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants another Morquio lp a dream of his, and that was to meet his soccer hero. Meet Sam:), no pic tho. http://www.herald.ie/national-news/brave-sam-gets-to-meet-his-soccer-hero-kaka-1\ 589442.html This is COOL, read this, " Equity on silver screen, " with moving pic slide show. " Local film producer hopes new movie will be one of many to feature actors who have disabilities. " http://www.glendalenewspress.com/articles/2009/01/07/entertainment/gnp-disabled0\ 7.txt To me this is NOT cool, my opinion only, remember that;). However, it is in the same vein of 'equity for all', as the above one is, but it's in a way that I say, Do they have to? I mean, I understand it, I do.... BUT do they have to????:*( Still, I leave this one for you to decide on your own too. http://www.newsvirginian.com/wnv/lifestyles/local/article/deer_hunters_wwrc_prov\ ides_accessibility_for_the_disabled/33624/ The upcoming 14th run of the reality TV show, The Amazing race, is rumored to have 2 (male?) lps in it, but I like how the one article states this, " Of course, they could be just short and not really little. " haha See # 5 on the first link: http://www.tvsquad.com/2009/01/05/seven-amazing-race-14-pre-season-spoilers/ and http://www.buddytv.com/articles/the-amazing-race/the-amazing-race-first-spoiler-\ 25479.aspx Is the fairytale, Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs, now considered too scary and not PC enough for parents to read to their children today? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/4125664/Traditional-fairytales-not-PC-e\ nough-for-parents.html Oddly enough, it was at that link that lead me to this one, news about Verne Troyer's being in the 'semi'-reality show:P, Celebrity Big Brother. The one thing I am not sure of is this, if Celebrity Big Brother is ONLY a UK show or here in the USA too? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/celebritynews/4126336/Verne-Tro\ yer-from-Mini-Me-to-Celebrity-Big-Brother.html and here with a cool pic of Verne, I feel. I love those shades! http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/bigbrother/pictures/ and here which also has Kenny Baker of Star Wars R2D2 fame: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/article2107972.ece I was reluctant to post this too, but seeing that the LPA is quoted in it I thought I would. And it's not that I am against the surgery, ELL, or I would prohibit any lp from having it, far be it. In fact, I would even defend their right to choose to have it done.... It's just that sometimes the articles featuring these lps, those who have had it done, as 'hope-less' before it. However, when confronted about that they will then say, " NO, we didn't mean that. We really meant the operation increased our functioning ability is all! " Still other articles will say too, They are NO longer dwarfs. So, what is it? Functioning increased or hope increased? Loss of dwarfism condition or gain in reaching ability? I got into a 'heated' debate on a news board, I think it was ABC's, on this same issue where I was accused of being a hater-against it. haha But, in actuality, I said, so be it, they had it done. I was even happy for them and would defend their right to have it done. It's just, if it was me, the key, ME, I wouldn't have had it done. But, of course, that got turned around to me not wanting them to have it done:D. The sad but true thing, and you will see this in the near future, if not already. I do believe the LPA needs to accept, if it hasn't already, that no matter what its stance may be on ELL (if it 'officially' has one?), that it needs to embrace any or all those who have had it done and who may want to join us, even if now they are over 4'10 " . Why, because they are still dwarfs and a part of us:), our community, yes, still ours, even if some or most or even the rest would not elect to have it done. MY >>>opinion<<< only. So my friends, watch for this too, you 'may' see a new category of membership on LPA's form, this: ELP or Extended Little Person. haha Some people got sooo mad at me for saying that, ELP, on ABC's board. But hey, it's true. No? " Stretching the limits of hope. " Huh? http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/news/x1840651420/Stretching-the-limits-of-hope ~grady, who loves everyone-the LPs of which he is one, the aps of which both his parents and siblings are, and the ELPs too! YAY!!
