Guest guest
, I think if the lump does go down that it isn't something to be too overly worried about, however, I think it would warrant a call to the orthotist to see if he/she thinks you might need an adjustment. As far as the percentages go, is the exact same way! Her head size is high on the charts and her body size is low. I never know what to make of that, but the ped seems completely unconcerned! had a CT scan at 8 months and there was nothing abnormal at that time. Hope this helps! Guest guest
: I would encourage you to have the scan done just to be certain there is nothing else wrong, but rest assured that many (plagio) babies seem to have really big heads! ;o) Check this poll out... Plagiocephaly/surveys?id=61482 Don't worry yourself silly just yet! Let us know what you find out! Plagiocephaly Sent: Tuesday, September 18, 2001 4:25 PM Subject: Head Lump Question and circumference question I have two questions for all of you. My daughter has a locally made helmet that covers her entire head. They have drilled little holes smaller than the size of a dime for ventilation. She has had the helmet for about a month now. This morning when I took it off of her she had a lump where one of the holes is. It was right at her soft spot. Within about 15 min the lump went away. Has anyone had this happen to them and is this something to be worried about? Also, my daughter's body is in the 10th percentile, and her head is in teh 98th percentile. She is 8 months old and her body has slowly inched down on the charts and her head has slowly inched up. Now she was born at 75th percentile in head and only 10 percentile in body. My ped wants a ct scan done to make sure she doesn't have any fluid building up in her head. We only got an x-ray done before she got her helmet. Does anyone else's babies fall into these percentiles? Also, does anyone know if I should be worried and what they do if they find excess fluid? I am trying not to worry about it but I am a little scared. Thanks,For more plagio info
Guest guest
, My son's helmet had holes drilled in it too. Sometimes when we took it off, we would notice what looked like blisters right under the holes. They looked bad but always disappeared quickly and didn't seem to bother him. I think if they are fading in 15 minutes you should be fine - but mention it to your orthotist the next time you go in. My brother has had problems with excess fluid on the brain as an adult. He now has a shunt that drains into his abdomin. Sound horrible but doesn't bother him in the least. He was very sick until they figured out what the problem was - now he is basically fine. Hope you get good news from the CT scan. My boy is a big headed baby too. My husband thinks that people with big heads are naturally geniuses so there you go.
